Introduction

Neem is well known to all of bangladeshi peoples. Neem leaves (fresh or dried), fruit, and Neem oil extracted from the seeds contain healing properties.

Neem is considered as part of Bangladesh's genetic bio-diversity. Neem protects us from various diseases and hence is often referred to as the 'Village Pharmacy'.

According to WHO“Neem- A Tree of the 21st Century”.

According to BNF “Neem-The Nature’s Doctor”.

Healing Benefits of Neem

Scientific studies have shown Neem to have the following healing properties: Anti-viral – Inhibits the growth of viruses. Anti-fungal – Inhibits the growth of fungi. Anti-bacterial – Destroying the growth of

bacteria. Analgesic – Providing pain relief. Anti-inflammatory – Reduce certain signs of

inflammation, swelling or tenderness. Anti-microbial -Destroying the growth of

microorganisms.

Safety issues

Contraindication: During pregnancy and menstruation, Or any sensitivity to neem.

Neem oil can cause some forms of toxic ophthalmopathy if consumed in large quantities.
