RTD RAYSCAN
Key advantages of RTD Rayscan
• Cost efficient
- no consumables
- less crew needed than with standard radiography
• High cycle time
- High scan speed
- No development time
- Real time results: direct interpretation and
feedback
• Advantage of digitalization:
- Aid of digital software tools and analysis (Image
enhancements, less re-do’s)
- Quality equal/better than film
- Easy storage & sharing
• Increased radiation safety:
- lower radiation intensity
- Short exposure times
– Highly collimated and internal shielding
• Environment friendly
- no chemical waste
• Compliance with all relevant code requirements DNV, ISO,
APi & ASME
• Very well suited for:
- Austenitic material
- CRA pipeline
- Root & Hot Pass
- Pipe-in-pipe configuration
RTD Rayscan is considered to provide the highest quality
results in the industry.
Digital Real Time Radiographic Inspection of Girth Welds and welds on new construction LNG tanks.
RTD RAYSCAN is a digital real time radiographic inspection system (RTR). To complete a full inspection the system only
needs to scan around the pipe once or once over the weld seam of a tank wall. The system has a double wall single
image (DWSI) and a single wall single image (SWSI) application. Depending on the wall thickness the DWSI application can
inspect pipes with a diameters ranging from 2”-36”, the SWSI application can be used for diameters > 24”. The DWSI
system uses a source located on the scanner frame and the SWSI system uses an X-ray crawler.
Double wall single image (DWSI) scanning
The green tube on the back is the x-ray tube that is used with DWSI. Directly opposite to it is the detector covered by the lead shielding. The shielding protects the user and the system hardly acquires a control area around it.
RTD Rayscan DWSI scanner
Single wall single image (SWSI) for larger diameters
For larger diameters, 24” and above, RTD Rayscan can use an X-ray crawler to make SWSI Scans. For the crawler application the sensor is mounted on a scanner bug, just like the AUT system RTD Rotoscan, this bug scans around the pipe on a guiding band.
