The best years of your life

“If I had kids there would be no question they’d go the same route. It was the best four years of my life. And the other guys who have gone to college would tell you the same thing. I couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out!”

• Of elite 18 year olds, only 5 – 8 % will play in the NHL

Reality

“Let’s be realistic. At 16 years old, how many kids are actually going to make the NHL? I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket. If I could make the NHL, great. And if not, I had a (finance) degree to fall back on.”

Kevin BieksaBowling Green University & Vancouver Canucks

Page 18: NCAA Hockey and Canada

• 85% of NCAA hockey players will earn a college degree

• *20% of major junior players will earn a college degree

* Are players who choose the OHL over college scholarships really getting the best of both worlds?

• Dispel the notion that Canadians aren’t welcome in college hockey and promote how many actually are playing the game

• Educate about the many success stories of college hockey, both on and off of the ice• TV broadcasts and media coverage has a strong Canadian flavor

Potential Date - Friday, January 17th • No Canadian-based NHL teams are playing • Day before Hockey Day in Canada • CBSSN game is St. Cloud vs. Western Michigan (Andy Murray – head coach) • BTN doubleheader is PSU at Michigan St. and Ohio St at Minnesota (outdoor game)
