Standard ITeachers Demonstrate

Leadership Teachers demonstrate high ethical

standards including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others.

Teachers uphold the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Professional Conduct.

Standards of Professional Conduct

Violations of these standards shall subject an educator to investigation and disciplinary action by the SBE or LEA

Treat all students with respect Not commit any abusive act or

sexual exploitation with, to, or in the presence of a student including:

Use of language that is profane, vulgar, or demeaning

Will not willfully or maliciously violate constitutional or civil rights of a student or parent / guardian, or colleague

Make all reports required by Chapter 115-C in North Carolina General Statutes.

Alcohol or controlled substance abuse

Not be under the influence of, possess, use, or consume on school premises or at a school sponsored activity a controlled substance (without a prescription authorizing such use.

Not be under the influence of, use, or consume an alcoholic beverage or controlled substance on school premises or at a school sponsored activity involving students

Not furnish alcohol or controlled substance to any student (*medications dispensed at school)
