As mentioned in the Holy Quran it was during Ramadhan some 15 centuries ago that the first revelation was made to prophet Mohammad. And since then there have been many important events that happened during the month Ramadhan, including the most famous victory of the Battle of Badar. Indonesia proclaimed its dependence from the Dutch also during the month of Ramadhan. Somehow Ramadhan is just a perfect time for reunions. Ramadhan also calls for social engagement with friends. Many would attest that the idea of getting together during the Holy month goes along with the spirit of communal love. Close family members are a priority, but it does not mean that friends are set aside. Everyone is welcome to share the evening meals, because it is part of the spirit of generosity. It all culminates with the biggest get-together of all at the Idul Fitri Celebration, which is scheduled to fall on the 8 th of August. There are so many ways to celebrate joyous occasion. But indulging in excessive eating is certainly not one of them. There are verses in the Quran with strictly forbid excessiveness, not to indulge uncontrollably. Regarding eating, Prophet Mohammad counseled Muslims “to fill only one third of the stomach with food, another third with water and the remaining third with air”. In another word, do not overeat. Here are several tips on staying fit and healthy during Idul Fitri : 1. Avoid excess eating 2. Go for high-fiber food 3. Drink enough water 4. Eat small portions 5. Exercise So the message that BIMASENA would like to convey to its members: Celebrate Idul Fitri faithfully but do not go overboard JULY-AUGUST 2013 Dear Nawala Readers, We extend to our readers : Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1434 Hijriyah Minal Aidin Wal Faizin Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin
