View From the BridgeNovember 2016

The Cadets of the Spruance Division and Radford Training ship had an exceptional month.

We began the month with a trip to The Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, for the Annual Seal Muster. We chartered

two busses, packed a box lunch for all hands, and had an incredible day, where the Cadets participated in the activities, and

met with Active and Retired Navy SEALS. Flagship Training was held at the Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale. The

Cadets practiced knot tying, marksmanship, fire fighting, stretcher bearing, and line heaving. The Cadets and Staff of the

American Veterans Division in West Palm Beach were our guests. They were integrated with our Cadets and had the

opportunity to work at each event. Box Lunches were enjoyed by All.

The Veterans Day Holiday was filled with events. The Cadets presented Colors at Temple Beth El Cemetery, in Dania,

and LCDR Starr attended Shabbat Friday night Services at Temple Bat Yam, in Fort Lauderdale, and was the guest Speaker.

The whole Unit turned out for the Veterans Day morning Ceremony in the City of Sunrise. LCDR Starr was honored to be

the Guest Speaker.

We ended the month with discussion on Thanksgiving, and each Cadet was tasked with helping out at home, and to

speak about what they were thankful for in life.

Respectfully submitted,

LCDR Alan Starr NSCC,

Commanding Officer

CDR Delmy Robinson, Executive Officer of Navy Recruiting District Miami, was our guest speaker at our Council’s November

16th Dinner Meeting. She gave a very inspiring presentation about her remarkable career in the Navy. She also briefed us about the

current status of Navy Recruiting.

Our Assistant Treasurer, Rosemarie Dezolt, was honored on her retirement from the Council. Both of her daughters attended

the meeting. Rose will be moving to Tennessee to live near her family. We will really miss her!

We were honored to have guests from our adopted ship, the USCG Cutter Richard Etheridge, in attendance. We also hosted

guests from USCG Station Fort Lauderdale, US Southern Command and Navy Recruiting District Miami. President Oscar Romano

presented the Etheridge Sailor of the Quarter Plaque to FS3 Justin Toro, USCG. It was a very lively and interesting evening.
