their boat. Owners of Raymarine Wi-Fi enabled plotters — the first of Navionics manufacturer partners compatible with this technology — can now use Navionics Boating on their iPhone or iPad as a bridge for this connection, eliminating the need to remove the memory card from their plotter. Plotter Sync users can now contribute to, and benefit from, the most accurate charting available to boaters by sharing their fishfinder’s recorded sonar logs with Navionics for integration into SonarCharts™ and later downloading the updated charts.

Now with fishfinder

For the first time, Navionics Boating users without chartplotters will have the convenience of viewing live sonar and charts on their iPhone or iPad within the same app. Through a new partnership with Vexilar, Navionics integrates their SonarPhone technology within the Navionics Boating app creating a very affordable wireless option for owners of small to midsize boats and kayaks. At the same time, users will be able to wirelessly transfer sonar data captured by their SonarPhone T-Box hardware to Navionics servers for improved SonarCharts™, and reap the benefits of their efforts with updated SonarCharts™ after about one week.“While we’re serious about offering the very best cartography, we know how important it is that our app is easy to use and makes life better, even in some small way, for our customers.” said Don Black, SVP, Navionics. “And that’s the fun part that drives us to keep on developing new capabilities like the ones included for free in this latest version. We want to make an app that everyone will love.”

Navionics Boating is easily found for the iPhone, iPad,

Android and Windows PC and Tablet by searching ‘Navionics Boating’ within the stores. Offering powerful no charge features, Navionics Boating users can purchase Navionics+ for detailed Navionics charts found on plotters in worldwide regions including: US & Canada, USA, Caribbean & South America, Greenland & Iceland, Norway, Baltic Sea, Skagerrak & Kattegat, UK-Ireland & Holland, Central & West Europe, Mediterranean & Black Sea, Upper Volga River, Moscow Area, Lower Volga River, Central Volga River, Canaries-Azores & Madeira, Africa & Middle East, Indian Ocean & South China Sea, China Sea & Japan, Australia & New Zealand, and Pacific Islands. To download from within the app, customers go to ‘Menu’ and then ‘Upgrades & Apps’.

Navionics Boating with enhanced features including Navionics+ is available from app version 7.1 for the iPhone and iPad. For Android, Navionics Boating including free US Govt. charts is available from version 4.0 on Google Play, with Navionics+ upgrade due to be released any day and other enhanced features coming throughout the year. Navionics Boating, loaded with all the standard app features and Navionics+ upgrade options from the full global catalog is offered as an app on Microsoft Windows for PC and Tablet. SonarCharts™

Navionics, the leader in content and location-based services for the recreational boating and outdoor markets, announced a key development in its award-winning SonarCharts™ high definition bathymetry map. Now compatible with sonar log data formats from leading echosounder and GPS chartplotter manufacturers Lowrance, Raymarine, Simrad and B&G in addition to Humminbird and Garmin, with innovative wireless connectivity for supported devices, Navionics makes it easier than ever for users to share sonar recordings which improve SonarCharts™ for future trips.

Boaters inevitably find themselves in areas where they would like to see more detail on their charts. With Navionics expanded sonar data file support, millions of individuals now have the ability to influence the detail of their own charts by recording sonar while going about their normal boating activities. Whether cruising to and from the homeport, searching out intricate characteristics of familiar fishing spots, or exploring remote destinations, it’s easy for anyone to gain a better understanding of depths and bottom composition wherever they take their boat.

“When we first announced our revolutionary SonarCharts™ capability for use with select plotters, we gave boaters the ability to share the up-to-the minute data they collected, delivering a level of detail never seen before,” said Giuseppe Carnevali, president, Navionics. “Our dedicated user base has contributed an enormous quantity of sonar logs from around the world, and now with our expanded compatibility, more users can take part in improving the areas they care about. These contributions also keep SonarCharts™ up to date for the benefit of the entire boating community.”

This exciting development allows individuals with sonar-enabled electronics from the majority of top brands

to submit sonar log files including: Humminbird (DAT and GPX on all models, GPX only on ION and Onix), Lowrance (GPX), Raymarine (SDF, NMEA, GPX), Simrad (GPX), B&G (GPX) and Garmin (ADM) plotters. Users can quickly and easily share sonar logs using their computer to upload the data to Navionics. Raymarine WiFi-enabled plotters can also participate directly using the Plotter Sync feature embedded in Navionics mobile apps for iPhone and iPad. From the time data is submitted, it takes roughly one week for SonarCharts™ to be updated reflecting quality improvements for local sea, lake and river bottoms. Updated charts are available for chartplotters, mobile devices and for free on the Navionics WebApp.

Millions of mobile device owners have downloaded Navionics apps and would never think of going fishing or boating without their charts. The Navionics Boating app with integrated SonarPhone functionality is simply a natural evolution of smart technology” said Steve Baumann, owner of Vexilar. “Vexilar pioneered many of the sonar technologies fishermen have been using for last 55 years, from our introduction of the first LCD sonar to our dominance in flasher sonar technologies for ice fishing. Our breakthrough with SonarPhone Wi-Fi technology is definitively where the future of fish finding technologies will be in just a few years. Navionics Boating and SonarPhone make for a robust and powerful team.”

And what’s more, boaters will be able to save and send their sonar logs to Navionics and see a new chart, updated with these data, after about a week. For Navionics, this is a great advancement for SonarCharts™, the HD bathymetry map users can enhance, that can be seen on plotter, mobile and even web. Any updated SonarCharts™ resulting from individual contributions are visible by the whole Navionics Community on any compatible device.

“As we embrace wireless technology, our partnership with Vexilar creates a wow factor by connecting sonar with charts on handheld devices like iPhones and iPads at a very low cost” commented Don Black, Senior Vice President of global sales and marketing, Navionics. “We are offering more and more ways to provide the greatest benefit for all so that any user can improve charts anywhere they want more detail, anytime they choose.”

Wireless chart updatesand sonar log sharing

from your boat!

Navionics, the leader in content and location-based services for the recreational boating and outdoor markets, announced new functionality of its innovative Plotter Sync technology for use with Raymarine Wi-Fi multifunction displays. This free update to Navionics Boating mobile apps for iPhone and iPad introduces the ability to update plotter charts and upload sonar logs wirelessly while onboard.

New Navionics Plotter Sync essentially establishes a connection via the Navionics app that enables individuals to take advantage of their Freshest Data subscription as well as upload sonar logs while on their boat, without the need to use a computer. Owners of Platinum+ and HotMaps Platinum cards can get chart updates, while boaters with Navionics+ and Navionics Updates have the added ability to download new coverage areas — and all can benefit with improved SonarCharts™ resulting from their sonar log contributions.

“Introduction of Plotter Sync wireless chart updates and sonar log uploads assures that boaters have access to the most current charts without interrupting their favorite on-the-water activities such as cruising, sailing or fishing” said Shaun Ruge, Product Manager, Navionics.

Wireless connectivity with Raymarine chartplotters creates an unprecedented, convenient way for boaters to connect to Navionics servers to access Freshest Data for updates to their Navionics+ cards, which can also be activated, as well as their Navionics Updates, Platinum+, and HotMaps Platinum cards, and to contribute effortlessly to improving charts everywhere they go. Plotter Sync can also be used with other Navionics cards including Silver, Gold and HotMaps Premium to upload sonar logs.

To use Plotter Sync, boaters with a compatible Raymarine WiFi-enabled system simply download Navionics Boating to their iPhone or iPad, buy the Navionics+ upgrade within the app for a region that includes their chart card

coverage area, then connect their devices. Plotter Sync allows up-to-date chart information to be transmitted directly to the chart card via the wireless connection. Any sonar logs present on the card can be uploaded at the same time.

Availability

Navionics Plotter Sync is available with Navionics Boating for iPhone and iPad from version 7.1, and can be used with compatible Raymarine a, c, e, and gS Series multifunction displays with LightHouse II R10 or later software update.
