Types of SAP BO Licensing• Named User License (NUL)
– Assigned to a single named user
– User may sign-on to multiple products and multiple Test/Dev environments
– No restriction in hardware configuration (multiple servers, CPU’s, Cores etc.)
Types of SAP BO Licensing• CPU Licensing (CPU)
– Based on number of CPU’s and CPU Cores on the servers running the BO Application
• First core on CPU = 1 CPU License
• Additional cores = 0.5 CPU License
– Unlimited Users
– Virtual Machine Environments
• Will consider underlying hardware if not allocated
Types of SAP BO Licensing• CPU Licensing (CPU) Examples
– 2 x Dual Core
• 2 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 1 Other Core) = 3 CPU
– 2 x Quad Core
• 2 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 3 Other Core) = 5 CPU
– 1 x Quad Core
• 1 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 3 Other Core) = 2.5 CPU = 3 CPU
– 4 x Octa Core
• 4 x (1 First Core + 0.5 x 7 Other Core) = 18 CPU
Types of SAP BO Licensing• Concurrent Access License (CAL)
– A single user license that can be shared between any number of users but only one can be logged on at any point in time
– License restricted to single product sign-on
– No restriction in hardware configuration (multiple servers, CPU’s, Cores etc.)
Types of SAP BO Licensing• OEM License (OEM)
– Provided through a third party and bundled with that third party application
– License restricted to use with the third party application only
– Third Party will determine type of license (CPU, NUL, CAL etc.)
Types of SAP BO Licensing• Viewer License (Xcelsius)
– Any deployment of Xcelsius dashboards where dashboard built with Xcelsius Enterprise (connected and not connected to BOE) requires Viewer licenses for all users viewing the dashboard
– Paper license (no server product) unless using QaaWS, Live Office or BO XI 4.x
BOE Enterprise• Offers the following Licensing
– CPU
– NUL
– Should not be mixed (but exceptions have occurred in the past)
– Should not be capped (but exceptions have occurred in the past)
BOE EDGE and CR Server• Offers the following Licensing
– CAL (Concurrent Access License)
– NUL (Named User License)
– Capped limits (50 CAL + 100 NUL per server)
– Restricted to a single server per instance but Unlimited CPU/Cores on each server
Tracking Licensing• Software Control
– CAL on EDGE and CR Server
• Audit Control
– CPU and NUL on Enterprise
– Viewer Licensing
Tracking Licensing - Tools• Integrity
– Business Objects Certified and works with BO5.x, 6.x, XI R2, XI 3 and XI 4 and enables you to have a full control of your licenses
• Total named/simultaneous/active/dormant users.
• Total users allowed to logon to N application.
• Scans all kind of allowed/denied security commands.
• CPU used
