LETTER FROM FINANCE
Greetings,
On behalf of the National Society of Black Engineers, I would like to say that we are honored that your organization is interested in getting involved in our society.
As an engineering student, in the past, I've been labeled anti-social, works better alone, unable to dress properly, and more. Yet, just earlier this summer I was asked to speak about engineering to a room full of high school students. One of my friends was amazed, saying I seem to know everyone these days, while another told me I'm always making conversations with complete strangers. This character development is not something I got through school, but through my involvement in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). For example, consider that two years ago I didn't even know how to tie a tie, let alone the meaning of business professional. All things I learned through NSBE.
Your partnership with Region III is an opportunity to connect with leaders. We are known as the "Power House" Region, not only due to our large membership, but also due to our history of producing dynamic leaders that affect change throughout the organization. With the National Directive of membership engagement, it is our mission to develop engineers that are effective in the work force, portray team leadership characteristics and solve problems that go beyond just looking at numbers.
Between our Regional Leadership Conference (RLC), Fall Regional Conference (FRC), and additional membership programs throughout the fiscal year, we have invaluable recruiting, branding and
outreach opportunities for your company. One of our past favorites has been the FRC Career
Fair. Here you will have access to students trained to perform in a professional environment.
It is an opportunity to recruit students that live by the mission of academic excellence,
professional development and community involvement. With last year being one of our
largest FRCs we've had in recent years, we are building on that success and anticipating
an even better Regional Conference.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions,
comments or concerns please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you
to help facilitate our most successful year to date, both yours and ours. As always, stay
THREE R3ADY!
Sincerely,
Randall J. Arthurs 2015-2016 Region III Finance Chair | NSBE

ABOUT NSBE
NSBE
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), with over 30,000 members, is one of the
largest student-run organizations in the United States. NSBE is comprised of more than four hundred
chapters that represent collegiate, alumni and pre-collegiate members in the United States, Africa, Asia,
Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.
NSBE had its genesis in April 1975 in Region IV on the campus of Purdue University. Its
founders were 6 highly motivated young men (Anthony Harris, Brian Harris, Stanley L. Kirtley, John
W. Logan Jr., Edward A. Coleman and George A. Smith). In 1976, NSBE was incorporated under Section
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a nonprofit organization in the State of Texas.
About NSBE Region III
The National Society of Black Engineers is divided into six regions. Region III is composed of
all chapters that lie in the southeastern United States, as well as international chapters in Latin America,
South America, and the Caribbean. The specific states under our portfolio include Alabama, Florida,
Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee. This region is informally known as “The Power House
Region,” due to our history of producing dynamic leaders in the organization. We are currently almost
4000 members strong, a direct result of our member’s active community involvement and outreach
programs.
NSBE Mission
To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the
community
