NAPLES
Naples is in the south of Italy, is the capital of the region of Campania and of the province of Naples.
Naples has a population of around 962,638 inhabitants. Its density is 8,208.7/km2. Its inhabitants are called Napoletanis
Its total area is 117.27 km2
The Patron of Naples is Saint Januarius and its saint day is on 19Th September.
The city is known for its rich history, art, culture, architecture, music and gastronomy.
The historic city centre is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The history of Naples started with the Greeks.
In the 16th century, Naples was governed by the Spanish kings: Fernando II de Aragón, Carlos I, and later, by Felipe II.

In 1994, it was headquarters for the G-8.
Naples has got a Mediterranean climate and it is the second sunnier city of Italy.
The most important mountain in Naples is the Mount Vesuvius which is an active volcano. It has a high of 1.871 m.
The volcano erupted in the 1st century BC that led to the destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the death of 10,000 to 25,000 people.
The cooking of Naples has got five dishes: antipasto (it is a nibbles before the main course), primo piatto (it usually is a pasta plate), secondo piatto (it is the main course), a dessert and a dolce (it is a small cake with liqueur).
The most important food is the pizza and the pasta.
If you go to the city, you can do many things.
Something that you can do is: go sightseeing, visit the theatre, go shopping, eating pizza and pasta, enjoy the local feasts, go to museums.
Naples is very famous for its castles, palaces and museums.
Castles of Naples are: “Castel dell'Ovo”, “Castel Sant'Elmo”, “Castel Capuano”, but the most beautiful is the “Castel Maschio Angioino” which it was built in the 13th century and it has got five towers and one triumphal arch.

The city has got many churches and cathedrals which they are: “Cathedral of Naples” (it is the most important place of worship in the city), “Church of Saint Lorenzo”...

This city has got many interesting streets, parks and squares.
It has got a subterranean part; it is a complex of catacombs and galleries.

In our opinion, Naples is a very beautiful and touristic city.
If you like going sightseeing, it is the ideal place because there are many interesting things, monuments…It is a cultural city. It has got theatres, museums…We love this city because we like its food, places, museums, castles…
If you love the historic remains, in Naples there is a charred city, Pompeii, in it you can see the old city and its dead people in a museum, they are charred bodies by the eruption of the Vesuvius.
