Thank you for purchasing the Korg nanoKONTROL2 slim-line USBcontroller. To help you get the most out of your new instrument, pleaseread this manual carefully.

In order to properly use this product, youll need to adjust someof the settings in the application that you are using. Adjust thesettings as described in the Settings for using the unit with DAWsoftware section in this manual, and in the owners manual foryour application.

Computer USB connector

1. Use a USB cable to connect the nanoKONTROL2 to a USB port onyour computer. The power to the nanoKONTROL2 will turn onand the power LED will light up.

Never use any USB cable other than the one thats included.

The nanoKONTROL2 starts in the operation mode that wasselected when the unit was last used. At this time, the transportbutton that corresponds to the current operation mode will flash.(--> Operation mode)

When you first connect the nanoKONTROL2 to a computerrunning Windows XP/Vista/7, the standard USB-MIDI driverfor your operating system will be installed automatically.

Turning off the power1. Disconnect the USB cable thats connected to the nanoKONTROL2

and the computer. The power to the nanoKONTROL2 will turn offand the power LED will go dark.

Settings for using the unit with DAW softwareThis section describes various settings for several DAW softwareprograms. For more information, please refer to the Parameter Guide.For information on detailed settings and operation of various DAWsoftware, please refer to the corresponding user's guide.

Cubase

1. While pressing and holding down the SET MARKER and REWbutt ons, conne ct the USB cabl e from your compu ter to thenanoKONTROL2.

2. Open the Device setting window in Cubase, and add MackieControl.

3. Select nanoKONTROL2 for the MIDI In/Out ports used by MackieControl.

Digital Performer

1. While pressing and holding down the SET MARKER and FFbutt ons, conne ct the USB cabl e from your compu ter to thenanoKONTROL2.

Settings for Audio MIDI settings

From Audio MIDI setup, open MIDIDevice or MIDI Studio, then selectAdd Device.

Name the added device. (e.g.,nanoKONTROL2 DP)

Connect the added device with thenanoKONTROL2 as shown on the left.

2. Open the Control Surface window in Digital Performer, thenselect Mackie Control for Driver and Unit.

3. Select the nanoKONTROL2 ports for MIDI.

GarageBand/Logic

1. While pressing and holding down the SET MARKER and STOPbutt ons, conne ct the USB cabl e from your compu ter to thenanoKONTROL2.

2. Open the Preferences window in Live, then select MackieControl for Control Surface.

3. Select nanoKONTROL2 for the MIDI In/Out ports used by MackieControl.

Pro Tools

1. While pressing and holding down the SET MARKER and PLAYbutt ons, conne ct the USB cabl e from your compu ter to thenanoKONTROL2.

2.Open the Peripheral window in ProTools, then select HUI forType.

3. Select nanoKONTROL2 as the source and destination for HUI.

SONAR

1. While pressing and holding down the SET MARKER and RECbutt ons, conne ct the USB cabl e from your compu ter to thenanoKONTROL2.

2. Open the MIDI device window in SONAR, then selectnanoKONTROL2 for Input and Output.

3. Open the Controllers/Surfaces window, then select MackieControl for Control Surface.

4. Select nanoKONTROL2 for the MIDI In/Out ports used.

MIDI IN portThis is where MIDI messages from the nanoKONTROL2s variouscontrollers are received. If you want to use the nanoKONTROL2 tocontrol an application on your computer, then select this port in theMIDI input settings of your application.This is also used by the Korg Kontrol Editor to control thenanoKONTROL2.

MIDI OUT port

This port is used by the DAW software or the Korg Kontrol Editor tocontrol the nanoKONTROL2.

If you are using Windows XP/Vista/7, the standard USB-MIDIdriver that is automatically installed will not allow you to use thenanoKONTROL2 with multiple applications simultaneously.If you want to use the nanoKONTROL2 with multiple applicationssimultaneously, you must install the Korg USB-MIDI driver.You can download the Korg USB-MIDI driver from the Korgwebsite, and install it as described in the included documentation.

Operation mode

The nanoKONTROL2 features two operation modes: DAW mode, inwhich each controller is set up for a specific DAW controller; and CCmode, in which Control Change messages are assigned to the unit'scontrollers. To engage the desired mode, turn on the unit whilepressing and holding down the button tha t corresponds to that mode.

2. Set up the application so that it can be controlled by the ControlChange messages transmitted from the nanoKONTROL2. Forinformation on setting up the application, please refer to the user'smanual for the application.

Troubleshooting

Power does not turn onIf youre using a passive (non-powered) USB hub, the

nanoKONTROL2 may fail to power-on because its not gettingenough power. If this is so, please connect the nanoKONTROL2 to

a powered USB hub or directly to your computer.Software does not respondMake sure that the nanoKONTROL2 has been detected by the

connected computer.If you are using Windows XP, go to the Control Panel, o pen Sounds,

Speech, and Audio Devices -> Sounds and Audio Devices, and check

the Hardware tab page to see if t he nanoKONTROL2 is connected.

If you are using Windows Vista/7, go to the Control Panel, openHardware and Sounds -> Device Manager, and check theSound, Video, and Game Controllers tab to see if thenanoKONTROL2 is connected.If you are using Mac OS X, open Applications -> Utilities, thenstart Audio MIDI Setup.On Mac OS X 10.5 or earlier, check the MIDI Devices tab.On Mac OS X 10.6 or later, open and check the MIDI Studio windowby selecting Show MIDI Window from the Window menu.

Mak e sure that the nanoKONTROL2 is selected in the MIDI portsettings of the application that youre using.

The application that youre using might not support certainfunctions. Please check the owners manual of your host application.

Connexions et alimentation

Ordinateur Prise USB

1. Reliez le nanoKONTROL2 un port USB de votre ordinateur avecun cble USB. Le nanoKONTROL2 est mis sous tension et sontmoin dalimentation sallume.

Nutilisez jamais dautre adaptateur secteur que cble USB fourni.

Au dmarrage, le nanoKONTROL2 active le mode defonctionnement en vigueur lors de la dernire utilisation. Lebouton de transport correspondant au mode en vigueur clignote.(--> Mode de fonctionnement)

La premire fois que vous branchez le nanoKONTROL2 unordinateur tournant sous Windows XP/Vista/7, le pilote USBMIDI standard de votre systme dexploitation estautomatiquement install.

Mise hors tension1. Dbranchez le cble USB reliant le nanoKONTROL2 et lordinateur.

Le nanoKONTROL2 est mis hors tension et son tmoindalimentation steint.

Les messages MIDI provenant des diffrents contrleurs dunanoKONTROL2 arrivent ici. Si vous voulez utiliser lenanoKONTROL2 pour piloter un logiciel sur ordinateur, slectionnezce port dans les rglages dentre MIDI du logiciel. Il est galementutilis par le logiciel Korg Kontrol Editor pour piloter lenanoKONTROL2.

Port MIDI OUT

Ce port est utilis par le logiciel DAW ou Korg Kontrol Editor pourpiloter le nanoKONTROL2.

Avec Windows XP/Vista/7, le pilote USBMID I standard, installautomatiquement, ne vous permet pas dutiliser lenanoKONTROL2 avec plusieurs logiciels simultanment. Mode de fonctionnement

Le nanoKONTROL2 vous laisse le choix entre deux modes defonctionnement: le mode DAW o chaque commande (curseurs,bouto ns etc.) est confi gure pour une stat ion de trava il audionumrique (logiciel DAW) particulire et le mode CC o descommandes de contrle sont assignes aux commandes physiques duproduit. Pour slectionner le mode, mettez ce produit sous tension enmaintenant le bouton correspondant ce mode enfonc.

2. Configurez le logiciel pour quil puisse tre pilot par des messagesde commandes de contrle transmis par le nanoKONTROL2. Poursavoir comment configurer le logiciel, veuillez consulter son modedemploi.

Dpannage

Linstrument ne sallume pasSi vous utilisez un h ub USB passif (non aliment) pour la connexion

lordinateur, le nanoKONTROL2 risque de ne pas sallumer suite une alimentation insuffisante. Dans ce cas, branchez lenanoKONTROL2 un hub USB actif ou directement lordinateur.

Le logiciel ne rpond pasVrifiez que le nanoKONTROL2 a t dtect par lordinateur.

Si vous utilisez Windows XP, allez dans le Panneau de configuration,ouvrez Sons, voix et priphriques audio -> Sons et priphriquesaudio et cliquez sur longlet [Matriel] pour voir si lenanoKONTROL2 est branch. Bedienungsmodus

Der nanoKONTROL2 bietet zwei Betriebsarten: Den DAW-Modus, indem jedes Bedienelement einem bestimmten DAW-Parameterzugeordnet ist und den CC-Modus, in dem das Gert MIDI-Steuerbefehle sendet. Conexiones y alimentacin

ordenador. El nanoKONTROL2 se apaga y tambin se apaga elLED.

Dele un nombre al dispositivo aadido.(p.ej., nanoKONTROL2 DP)

Puerto MIDI IN

Aqu se reciben los mensajes MIDI de los controladores delnanoKONTROL2. Si est usando Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7, el controladorUSB-MIDI que se instala no le permitir usar el nanoKONTROL2con varias aplicaciones a la vez. Si desea usar el nanoKONTROL2con varias aplicaciones a la vez, es necesario que instale elcontrolador Korg USB-MIDI. Modo operativo

El nanoKONTROL2 presenta dos modos operativos: El modo DAW,en el que cada controlador se configura para un controlador DAWespecfico; y el modo CC, en el que los mensajes de Cambio de Controlse asignan a los controladores de la unidad. Para activar el mododeseado, active la unidad mientras mantiene pulsado el botncorrespondiente a dicho modo.

2. Configure la aplicacin para que puedan controlarla los mensajesde Cambio de Control transmitidos desde el nanoKONTROL2. Params informacin acerca de la configuracin de la aplicacin,consulte el manual de usuario de la misma.

Solucin de Problemas

La unidad no se enciendeSi est usando un Hub USB pasivo (sin alimentacin independiente),

es posible que el nanoKONTROL2 no se encienda. Si ocurre estoconecte el nanoKONTROL2 a un Hub USB con alimentacinindependiente o directamente a su ordenador.

El Software no respondeAsegrese que nanoKONTROL2 ha sido detectado por el ordenador.

En Windows XP, vaya a Panel de Control, Dispositivos de Sonido yAudio y compruebe la Pestaa Hardware.En Windows Vista/7, vaya a Panel de Control, abra Hardware ySonidos, ver Hardware y Dispositivos y compruebe Controladoresde Sonido, vdeo y juegos.En Mac OS X, abra Aplicaciones, Utilidades, Ajustes de Audio yMIDI e inicie Audio MIDI Setup.En Mac OS X 10.5 o anterior, compruebe la pestaa MIDI Devices.En Mac OS X 10.6 o posterior, abra y compruebe MIDI Studioseleccionando Show MIDI Window en el men de ventanaWindow.
