Professionalism and business etiquette is more about presenting yourself with the kind of polish that shows you can be taken seriously. This kind of polish extends itself to how you present yourself to your clients but even more importantly, how you present yourself to your company.

• It is more than knowing which fork to use at a business lunch!

• In the perception of others, the devil is in the details.

• People need to feel confident of you and trust you will not embarrass yourself and the organization.

• Always practice impeccable grooming even in a jeans environment.

• Being wrinkled and/or unkept communicates that you don’t care enough about the situation, the people, or the firm

Don’t Be “That Guy” or “That Girl”

• See “that guy” over there. He got so drunk at the client function that he tried to hook up with the CFO’s wife.”

• See “that girl” over there. She got so drunk at happy hour that she started doing her old high school cheers....on top of the bar.

• Never ever talk about a client, the firm, or another employee on an elevator.

• Just because one of the partners or the CFO frequently use the F word as a “sentence enhancer” doesn’t mean you should.
