Bella Desgagnés is a Canadian passenger vessel completed in march 2013 by Palumbo shipyard in Naples. Palumbo Group was proud of hosting this vessel and donating her the best security, technical and comfort standards. The vessel was built at 60% by a Croatian Shipyard that went bankruptcy, so in a record time, Palumbo Shipyard succeeded in completing every system on board, under the supervision of Lloyd Register and Transport Canada surveyors. The vessel now represents a technical excellence as far as the international standards are concerned for a passenger ship. Bella Desgagnés is an Ice and DP class vessel in compliance with Lloyd Classification standards and Canada flag. The vessel is 97,10mt in length (LOA) with a GRT of 6.588 tons and it is powered with 4 diesel electric generators Wartsila which power two KONCAR electric motors, giving propulsion to two azimuthal propellers.
M/V BELLA DESGAGNES NEWBUILDING COMPLETED IN NAPLES SHIPYARD
Palumbo Superyachts building
Having built a strong reputation on the commercial market, the Group started looking for new areas of expansion and moved into the highly competitive Superyacht field. Company’s diversification from the core business of repairs and refits began in 2008 with a new division handling construction of luxury and almost unlimited sized Superyachts under the brand of Columbus Yachts.

The ship was partially sunk after a collision; we recuperated it and the vessel was tugged to our Naples yard.
Palumbo Shipyard performed all the repair works, along a two years activity, spending over 350,000 man hours.
The main jobs performed were the following:
- Structural renewal of all the damaged structures of the bottom and bow, areas for a total of about 2,000 steel tons (jobs mainly performed in Messina dry-dock, and including the renewal of the steering gear equipment, the shaft lines main shaft bearings, fin stabilizers, main engine, generators, hoistable car decks and propeller blades)
- Complete overhauling and new installation of all machinery and electrical components in the engine room, which was totally flooded.

Dear Joseph I have not forgotten you even so you have not heard from me for some time. This is to thank you for a good repair at your Yard earlier this Year. The Vessel has been operating quite well since, and is now in the Island area but will be back in the Med. in the beginning of September. Please give my regards to all the involved in this project and I am looking forward to come back to your Yard and work with them all with this or another Vessel when there will be another possibility.
