We are one week away from the celebration of
Christ the King and the end of the liturgical
year. We tend to focus on the civic
celebrations, especially Thanksgiving, at this
time of the year. However, let us remember
Jesus who has conquered death and reigns as
King in Heaven. We can prepare for the
special solemnity next week by remembering
that Christ will return at the end of time. Let us
be prepared in our hearts to welcome Him!
I sent out the Annual Giving letter this week to
invite all our parishioners to consider a special
end-of-year gift to our church or school. Last
year’s Annual Giving paid for the replacement
of the boiler in the old gym. Thanks to a private
donor, the kitchen in the old gym has been
refurbished. Our next donut Sunday will be held
in the old gym so all our parishioners can have
an opportunity to see the renovated St. Thomas
Center.
This year, I invite you to support our school
which provides an outstanding education in a
Catholic environment for our children. The
school is subsidized by the parish, and your
contributions help keep Catholic Education
affordable for our families.
If you want to direct your contribution to our
sanctuary project, you can help us raise the
funds to make improvements to the sanctuary
this spring. Your contributions will help focus our
attention on the Tabernacle, introduce statues
and images of the saints, and replace a blank
wall with more color and warmth.
Thanks for your support of St. Thomas!
- Msgr Gray

November, 2019
Dear Friends in Christ,
Right now, many American families are struggling to make ends meet. As
people are laid off, lose homes to fore-closure, lose health insurance, and
watch their retirement funds disappear; it may be difficult to think of
others in need. However, financial struggles have become even harder
for the 37 million Americans who have been living in poverty.
For nearly 44 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development
(CCHD) has offered a solution to poverty by funding low-income
community groups all over the United States that find lasting solutions to
the root causes of poverty. CCHD supports the poor and low-income in
acquiring affordable housing, fair wages, access to health care and
vocational training. The leaders of CCHD-funded groups are low-income
community members who want to change their situation for a lifetime.
In Catholic social teaching, we are called to bring glad tidings to the
poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to
let the oppressed go free. (Lk 4:18) Our support of CCHD is vital to solving
poverty in the United States. Thank you for your generosity.
Please join me in praying for those affected by the weak economy, those
whose struggles are magnified by it, and those who are working to create
solutions to it.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C.

For those age 70 1/2 There is good news if you have reached 70 1/2
and you would like to help St. Thomas Parish. If
you have an IRA, the government requires you
to take out a certain amount each year and
be subject to federal tax. However, the law
allows you to donate this amount directly to the
parish during 2019 and have it distributed free
of federal income tax!
What a wonderful opportunity to help St.
Thomas. Please talk with your tax advisor or the
company holding your retirement account to
benefit you and St. Thomas parish.
