In 1950, Clair Omar Musserlaid the foundation for the Musser Marimba Co. with hisdesign of thePrep Marimba. Eight successful years later Musser turnedover the reigns to Richard J. Richardson. Richardson, real-izing the company needed a place to continue its growth,moved to a larger, more modern facility located inLaGrange, Illinois.But in this era where individual loyalty to business meanteverything, Musser recognized the soul of the businesswasn’t the management.It was, and is, the dedicated craftsmen. From these highly

skilled professionals come the world’s finest mallet percus-sion instruments.

Working together, Ludwig andMusser create absolute synergy.The distribution of Musser instruments through LudwigDrums, Inc. in the early ’60s was anessential move in the history of both companies. Now thegreatest names in drums and in malletpercussion instruments were working togetherto join musicians in their quest for unbeatableharmony and rhythm.

Musser instruments connectthe audience with musicians.Musser instruments are used by moreprofessional musicians than anyother company’s. Jazz legendLionel Hampton demonstratedthe radiant sound of thevibraphone when hebrought it to centerstage in the 1930s withLouis Armstrong.

Musser recently designed a limited edition vibraphone as atribute to Hampton’s unmistakable influence. The vibra-phone, made of all natural wood finished frame,boasts his signature on thefront rail (Available on page14.) World renowned malletpercussionist Gary Burton has alifelong relationship with allMusser mallet percussion instru-ments and uses them in both hisinternational toursand working with the Berklee College of Musicin Boston. These legendary artists expect the best fromtheir instruments and Musser has performed solidly forover 50 years.Musser instruments are handcrafted to meet

Theselect wide-graduated rosewood bars provide a rich, fulltone. Light staining, hand rubbing and a clear finish onthe bars accentuate the beauty of the rosewood.With a furniture quality hardwood frame andcopper vein powder coated resonators, the M500 ConcertGrand Soloist marimba is a stunningly handsome instru-ment.Musser’s most technically advanced marimba

creation, the M500 Concert Grand Soloist features tun-able aluminum alloy resonators secured bybolts and lock-nuts. Fine tuning a marimba allows theplayer to customize sound within the limitations ofacoustics, temperature and humidity. With the Musserpatented resonator caps, tuning in the range of C2 to C3 isquick and accurate, even in thelowest register. Resonators feature two position settingsfor placement.Masterfully designed for the concert performer, the entire

instrument disassembles for transport. The frame is heightadjustable from 33.5" to 38", with durable locking cast-ers for smooth transport and durability. Folding res-onators and rails and detachable end pieces pack securely.

M245, M250Musser marimbas in the 4.3-octave range include theM245 Deluxe Studio Grand and M250 Concert Grand.The Deluxe Studio Grand is ideal for the marimba studentwho requires rosewood bars for performance. With a noterange of A2 to C7, the marimba is pitched to A-442. Theresonators are made of high-grade light aluminum tubing,withsilver vein powder coating for scratch-resistant durability.The frame is made of wood and securely braced for stabili-ty. For ease in transportation, the frame and resonatorsare hinged to fold in half. The Concert Grand is a classicmarimba that has become a favorite of symphonies anduniversities. Rosewood bars are triple-tuned and suspend-ed to assure distortion-free performance. Arched resonatorsare drawn seamless aluminum and finished with a goldpowder coat, for a rich look and sound.

The marimba includes aluminumresonators with a durable silver vein powder coat for a fullrich sound. Studio Grand sets regally on a handsome woodconcert frame. The M240 is a great first full size marimbaforthe serious student.

M32M32 Studio marimba has non-graduated Paduk bars in theC3-C7 note range. The 4-octave marimba has silver finishaluminum resonators, and includes a height adjustablewood frame with folding aluminum legs. The Studio marim-ba is a student level personal use instrument.
