Legal Aid of Western Michigan currently serves people in 17 counties. Come to Club and hear more of the story. – THEN – We’re all invited to Heritage Landing to enjoy “The Ground- breaking at Rotary Park.” Festivities are set to begin at 1:45pm and, due to the expected crowd, please park in YMCA’s parking lot. In all of its trademark elegance, the Lake House Waterfront Grille provides treats galore here for guests of this year’s Grape Escape on Wednesday. But there were plenty of other sumptuous offerings, not to mention a wide variety of delectable wines and micro- brews. A big thanks to all who took part. For one last peek at this outstanding event, we’ve photos on PP 2-3, followed by our report on Thursday’s regular meeting. Last week’s meeting was called to

order by President Don. The

invocation was given by Gary

Ostrom. Jim Fisher provided us

with a Rotary Moment. He

encouraged each of us to attend a

Rotary information session. These

are held monthly. Jim said much of

of stopping if

we cannot make

our

commitment for

mentors.

We are all encouraged to join

the Litehouse Challenge. Purchase

a box of the salad dressings for $15

and the money goes for additional

water filters. We are currently at

$465 of our goal of $2,000. You

can sign up to purchase salad

dressings at a weekly meeting, or

contact Darlene Collet, above.

Steve Westphal, above left, presented Dan Barnum-Steggerda as a new Rotarian. Dan is an ordained pastor. He originally trained as an accountant but had the call to ministry in 1983. He received his M.Div degree from Bethany Seminary. Dan is married to Lucinda and they have two sons, Eric and Joel. He makes his home in Norton Shores and enjoys woodworking and creating copper sculptures.

Wednesday night a great success.

This year, all but three tickets sold

(397/400) and we enjoyed a record

number of sponsorships.

Over $7,000 in pledges were

made last month toward Rotary

Park. There is still time for you to

donate.

All committee chairs are asked

to review their members’ names in

ClubRunner this week and make

any changes so committees can be

finalized next week.

Rotary International awarded

$500,000 to the World Health

Organization for continuing work

to eradicate polio.

In last week’s raffle, Bill Ashley

was the big winner of $20. Marty

Ferriby won $10 and Darlene

Collet won $5. Speaking of

Darlene, she requested a RIM

retraction, and here ‘tiz: The 9th

Annual Mission for Area

Fundraiser will be held on

Monday, October 14, 6:30-

9:00pm at Trillium Banquet

Facility in Spring Lake.

In the previous week’s “10

Brave Rotarians” competition,

Jane Clingman-Scott was cast off

the island to wild applause.
