In a recent study , qualified prospective members overwhelmingly expressed an interest in Rotary club membership if it entailed active involvement in meaningful community service projects. And nobody knows the benefits of involvement in your Rotary club better than you, the members. So how do you communicate your club’s accomplishments to prospective Rotarians? You can start by producing a club brochure to distribute to business professionals, guest speakers at club events, community leaders, or anyone you think could be a future Rotarian. You might also display your club brochure in local businesses — you never know who might pick one up and want to get involved. The brochure should advertise your club to prospective members, offering specific details about its accomplishments. If you need assistance or ideas, download the new club brochure templates from the RI website. These customizable templates are available in three formats, for clubs with varying levels of technical expertise and software. The files include a Club Membership Inquiry Form, which can be inserted in the brochure and completed by those who want to know more about membership in your Rotary club. Clubs can use the forms to learn more about prospective members and invite them to weekly meetings, projects, or events. SHELTERBOX NEWS Families housed in ShelterBox tents days after Pakistanfloods

Homes washed away, infrastructure destroyed and hundredsdead. This is the scene in Pakistan after the worst flooding inmore than 80 years.

406 ShelterBoxes have already been distributed to familiesrescued from the floods in the Punjab and KhyberPukhtunkhwa (KPK) regions. A further 600 ShelterBoxes areset to be distributed in the next 24 hours.

ShelterBox Field Operations Advisor, Mark Pearson, returnedfrom Pakistan two weeks ago where he was coordinating thedistribution and storage of 1,900 ShelterBoxes.

‘I was working in Pakistan in response to flooding in thesouth and the north but also to pre-position ShelterBoxes toensure a rapid response to a disaster of this magnitude,' saidMark.

‘We've worked with NRSP (National Rural Support Programme) and Rotarians in Pakistan for the pastfive years and they requested our equipment be pre-positioned as they knew the worst monsoonseason in years had been predicted.

‘Because of our work with NRSP, we were able to respond instantly and just days after the floods andfamilies are now being sheltered beneath our tents.'

Desperate need

NRSP say there is a desperate need for shelter, food, water, non-food items, medicine, tools andsupport to begin the rebuilding process.

The unprecedented floods in the KPK region has hit the districts of Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar,Mardan, Swabi, Malakand and Swat. People were caught in the middle of the night when rushingflood waters engulfed their homes leaving thousands homeless within a matter of minutes.

ShelterBox Head of Operations, John Leach, added: ‘Our forward planning and strategic alliance withNRSP means we've been able to get aid to families in most need within 48 hours of the floods hitting.'

Rains in Pakistan have now stopped but Pakistan's Meteorological department say more rain will hitthe country in the coming days.
