GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE OPEN SECTION OF THE COMPETITION. • The Competition is open to South African residents and/or students enrolled at a University in South Africa. • The age limits is from 18-28 • The 1st Round will be in the form of a YouTube submission. You are welcome to send the YouTube link for your submission to [email protected]) • Time duration should be 20 mins minimum – 30 mins maximum • Repertoire to be presented must include a work from the Baroque or Classical period; a virtuoso Etude and a piece/pieces of own choice for the First Round • The Final Round will have a time limit of 25-30 mins. • Two finalists will be chosen for the Gala evening on the 1st September 2021. • Repertoire for the Final Round would include a work from the Baroque or Classical period and the rest, own choice. ONE work from the 1st Round repertoire can be included in the Final Round if need be. • All performances to be memorized. •. Competitors acknowledge and agree that the Johann Vos Competition shall be entitled to record and use any of their performances in the Competition at its discretion. • The evening will be broadcasted by FMR. • The YouTube link itself is the Opening round for this section of the competition and therefore candidates should regard this as having the same importance as a live performance. Only the very best playing, on a suitable instrument, should be submitted. • A Copy of the chosen works must be scanned and submitted 2 days prior to the competition date and e-mailed to [email protected] ALGEMENE RIGLYNE VIR DIE OPE AFDELING VAN DIE KOMPETISIE. • Die kompetisie is oop vir alle Suid-Afrikaanse burger en/of student wat ingeskryf is by ‘n Universiteit in Suid-Afrika. • Die ouderdomsbeperking is tussen 18-28 jaar. • Die eerste Rondte sal in die vorm van ‘n YouTube skakel geskied wat ge-e-pos word. The second prize is R10 000 Additional awards - Best performance of a South-African work: R3000. Best performance of a Baroque work: R3000. Best performance of a Classical work: R3000.
