Music Magazine Questionnaire Analysis For my research, I created a questionnaire about music and music magazines. I asked 5 females and 5 males to fill my questionnaire out, in which they were all 16-21 years old, as I asked people around college. I did this to find out what sort of things I need to consider when it comes to designing my front cover and double page spread, e.g.: colours and pictures. The first question I asked was ‘What genres of music do you listen to?’ My findings show that the most popular genre of music listened to by 16-21 year olds is Rock, as 8 out of the 10 people I asked like rock music. There were also 5 people that like pop music, which is usually the most common genre of music. There are 3 people that like R n B music, and 2 people that like metal and dance music. This will influence me when it comes to designing my own The second question I asked people was ‘How often do you buy music magazines?’ My findings show that the majority of people I asked never buy music magazines. This suggests that magazines are a dying media, and that I will have to make my magazine more appealing in order to catch people’s attention, and make them want to buy it. There are very little people that buy a magazine once a week; this could be a result of the price. Music Magazine Questionnaire Analysis

I then asked ‘What is the maximum amount you would pay for a magazine?’ If people do buy magazines, the majority of them would pay up to £4, however 4 out of the 10 people I asked would not pay at all for a magazine. This suggests that a lot of teenagers nowadays prefer not to buy magazines, as they can just read them for free on the internet or portable devices. So, when I design my magazine, the price should be between 3-4 pounds, so then this way, teenagers will still buy it as it will not be over priced or too expensive.

One other question I asked was ‘what makes you buy a magazine?’ I asked this question to try and find out what attracts people to a magazine, and what the most appealing thing is. I found out that the majority of people that do buy magazines are most attracted by the pictures on the front cover of the magazine, and also, many people are attracted to the main article or the free gift that comes with the magazine. This has given me a few ideas of what I need to include on my front cover to make it the most appealing it can be. By asking this question, it has give me a rough idea of what my magazine cover will look like once it has been completed.
Overall, by doing this questionnaire, I have found out many things and it has given me various ideas of what my magazine cover will look like when it has been completed. I now know, roughly, how much money I would charge for my magazine, and I also know what to include when it comes to designing my cover.
