• A key component is building and maintaining relationships with local businesses as business retention strategy
• City must be able to show added value to the businesses

PG&E’s Economic Development Rate program provides a rate
reduction for 5 years to eligible businesses.
Benefits to the public include:
•Community Economic Vitality
•Lower rates for all grid users
•Reduced Operating Expenses for Companies
•Energy use reduction commitment
Economic Development Rate Background
The program allows for either a 12% or the 30% discount on electric
portions of a customer’s bill for 5 years. To be eligible for the Economic
Development Rate (EDR), a business must:
Be a qualified TYPE of business customer. Non-residential customers who can
“relocate” may qualify. Exclusionary examples: retail, government, schools, or location-
based agriculture.
Have at least 200 kW of load and will be on A-10, E-19, or E-20 electric schedules.
Have studied and seriously considered out-of-state options for relocation.
Obtain the approval of the Governor’s Office of Business Development
