What was the Mughal Empire? T he Mughals were a group of related people who captured lands of other countries to become rulers of what is now known to be one of the largest states in pre-modern history. One of the great rulers in the Mughal Empire and is now known worldwide was Genghis Khan. I would say that the Mughals were like a family which passed down its greediness for power and at first ruled over India by force, taking it over bit by bit in time becoming a massive empire. The Mughals ruled over India and some of (now known) Pakistan in the 16  th to 19  th century. They were of Turkish descent and spread Muslim faith across their empire (although not the 1 st Muslims to inhabit India) allowing some Hindus into high places like senior government, as India was mainly a Hindu majority. The Mughals brought different aspects into India like a government institution and architecture as seen through the long standing T aj Mahal. Here is a timeline of the Mughal Empires:

Who was Genghis Khan?

Genghis Khan was the founder of the Mughal Empire

bringing together nomad tribes which were situated in north-east Asia. With this united front he then led his group into becoming one of the best empires in pre-modern history.

This miraculous empire started as Genghis offered to become an ally to his father·s war brother who was the leader of the Keraits (who were one of theseveral tribes in that era) and in return even gained a war brother called

Jamuka who was ruler of the Jadaran. With him he was able to conquer many threats that tried to raid the Mongols (Mughals) and even helped Jamukawith his unfaithful tribesmen. Although there were many fights with

Jamuka about who would be the Mongol leader he was able to conquer thosewith intellectual power. Throughout Genghis· life he witnessed manybetrayals even by his own brother but he overcame them by his militia power and spies throughout his tribe.

Genghis Khan is important as he showed spirit and fire as he never gave in the fight for dominance with his tribe and showed intellectual skills as he leda forceful military to victory and created a political statement. Thestatement showed that it is not just about your wealth or race it is the wayyou demonstrate your abilities and for that you would be rewarded. Genghisshowed the ability of perseverance for the goal he believed in and never let his tribe down for that I believe he deserved to be leader of his tribe although he goit of means of brutality.

How did abur Akbar help the empire to grow?

arbur and Akbar helped the Mughal Empire grow e x tensively. From what used to be a small part of India from abur·s reign had turned into a huge a mighty empire by the time of Akbar·s reignwhich ended over 1 yrs after than abur·s. ot to mention theywere only little when they had to face an enormous task testing their ability to rule efficiently and to fight for their empire. Mostemperors would have been full of e x perience before they received the throne but Akbar and abur had to learn on the job and without thehelp of family members as most of them deserted the young

emperors believing they had no chance of succeeding in ruling thismighty empire.

Also, in both of the ruling times they had to fight many battles tomake the Mughal Empire huge and wealthy, facing dangers whichmost young people would not face as they fought for their empire.

In addition to the above they changed the way the Mughals were

seen. Most Hindu people were shunned and were not given high jobsin things such as politics just because the Mughals was a familybased mainly on Islam. ut abur and Akbar changed those perspectives as they learned to embrace other ethnicities andreligions and started to converse and make changes to the way they were treating non-Muslims. Thanks to them most minoritieswere able to have better jobs and were able to speak up and get better

rights for themselves. This helped many people to be moreappreciative of the empire and with that the empire was lesssusceptible to threats helping it grow largely and also trade more.

What did Aurangzeb do during his reign as Emperor?

Aurangzeb was born on% ov 1& th 161' and died on March( rd 17 ) 7. He was the 6 th emperor to die; his reign lasting till his death which his reign startedin 160

' . Aurangzeb had a very intriguing past; after his father put up arebellion he was held hostage at his grandfathers until his grandfather died, where he was able to go back to his palace to live with his mum and dad. About(

) yrs later Aurangzeb·s dad was on his deathbed being the( rd of thesons there was no way that Aurangzeb would receive the throne, but he stilled tried to. After the1 nd brother Murad had pledged alliance to him it wasbetween him and his other brother 2 ara. After many fights2 ara gave in andhad to march to2 elhi were he would e xecuted whilst Aurangzeb became heir to the throne. As well, Aurangzeb imprisoned Murad to make sure that no-onegot in his way.

When Aurangzeb became emperor he changed a lot of the rules which his predecessors worked hard to create. For instance, he took a great liking toMuslim people and created a divide between them and the non-Muslims.

% on-Muslims were yet again shunned and were forced out of high jobs and treated unequally by Aurangzeb who hinted that that in order to getsomewhere they would have to convert to Muslim. Also he made laws which

made it harder for non-Muslims to have rights and views in politics As well as this, he had fights all the time and pushed the boundaries in theEmpire to further than it had ever been before (shown below in the diagram).Throughout his life Aurangzeb faced rebellions up until t his died in 17 ) 7.
