Rhodesian experience described

Strange journeyDate of sightiiig: May 31, 1974 (2:30

a.mi to 7:30 a.m.)Location of sighting: Rhodesia.Witnesses: Peter, 24, and his wife

Frances, 21.Investigated by: Carl Van Vlierden,

MUFON representative from SouthAfrica.

Written by: Dwight Connelly, SKY-LOOK editor with- assistance fromJoseph M. Brill, International Coordin-ator.

Multiple effectsdescribed by couplePeter and Frances, traveling

from Salisbury, Rhodesia, totheir home in Durban, South Af-rica, on the night of May 30-31, reported that i.n a five-hour period between .2:30 a.m.and 7:30 a.m. one or both ob-served two . UFOs, experiencedeffects on their car's lightingsystem, felt the "loss of con-trol" of the auto's steering, observed "occupants," got alook at the interior of a UFO,and experienced the mysterioustransportation of their autoover a distance of many miles.

Some of these experiencescame to light only after Peterwas later hypnotised by a medi-cal doctor.

The first hint of what wasto come was the observation byboth Peter and Frances of a"person" alongside the road,10 kilometers (6 miles) southof Umvuma, Rhodesia, about 2:30a.m. .

Frances said she at firstthought it was a policeman, andshe was concerned because Peterwas exceeding the speed limit. The "person" had something"like a box" or a "walkie-talk-ie" in his hand, she said.

Peter said he did not thinkit was a policeman because itwas too "metallic." Both wit-nesses agreed that the suitworn by the person shined. "It

didn't look natural," saidFrances. She looked back assoon as; the "person" was pass--ed, but saw nothing.

About ten seconds laterFrances says she saw a lightwhich she thought must be ahouse at the top of a h i l l . "Icommented on the fact thatsomeone must be up late," sherecalled. "Then I thought itmust be a communications tower,as the light was a lot higher. Then it started to revolve likea lighthouse." It was "revolv-ing" on and off, she said.

The light, "which was on theoassenger side, seemed to keeppace with the auto. "It .lookedvery, very close," according toFrances, but the distance wasimpossible to determine becausethe size was not known.

Frances described the lightas being "very bright, almostblue in its brightness." Shecould not determine either thesize or the shape.:.

Peter commented 'that theauto's lights seemed to be fad-ing, and Frances noted this al-so. Then the lights appearedto go out completely. The auto

:was going about 140 kilometersper hour (90 m.p.h.) when thelights had begun to dim : (in-cluding the ..interior dashlights). . . . '. .!

The car's ignition , did notseem, to be . affected, /and theradio continued to play. Thecar was running smoothly, going"like a bomb,", according - toPeter.' - - -.- . ;. ' '.'..'' /

"There was an immense. 1ightaround the car," explainedPeter, and he was able to seewithout his car lights, which,as noted, had gone : out ,com-pletely. The 1ight •surroundingthe car was described as a"bluish daylight-type '!neonbulb, bright enough' to" castshadows." !

The ca r became very cd1d,according to therwitnesses, ' sothey turned on the car's neaterwhich seemed to operate normal-ly. However, the car still didnot, warm up, so the couple puton heavier clothing and wrappedthemselves in blankets. St'i 11the car was coldo -

"I've traveled that ;;area•many, many times," said Peter,"and I've never experiencedcold like that. -The interior:of the car just-turned iinto'arefrigerator." He remarked thatthe temperature had dropped"very, very quickly,,"

No controlover auto

Peter alsp discovered! thathe had.no control over the car."I couldn't stop-the car,,!1 hesaid.- "I had" no power -overbraking, I put my foot on thebrake and it went Jn the 'normaldistance, but had no effect."•Even when he took'nis foot offthe accelerator, he said, thecar continued its-'speed. ,

Peter related that he like-wise "had no power'over steer~ing, and no power over handlingof the car." Frances said she

Editor's Note

This report may be con-sidered a bit "far out" interms of what the witnessesallegedly experienced, andSKYLOOK takes no positionone way or the other as towhether the account is true.

We do feel, however, thatit has enough merit to beprinted. We feel this wayfor the following reasons:(1) The investigator of

the case has proven to becareful and reliable in the.past, and he says, "I get agood impression of the wit-nesses, and Peter was cer-tainly in a deep trance,, Isee no reason why theyshould say anything abouttheir experience but thetruth as THEY experiencediU "

(2) This is a two-witnesssighting, and therefore morelikely to be reliable than asingle-witness report, eventhough the two are man andwife and even though onlyone could be successfullyhypnotized.(3) The added dimension of

hypnosis, while not conclu-sive, does provide one typeof additional evidence.(4) There have been other

reports with certain simil-arities to this case.

At the same.time it mustbe noted that there are manyunanswered questions regard-ing this case, and some as-pects of it seem incongruentand/or illogical.

The account is as accurateand complete as we can makeit at this, point. The wit-nesses have asked that theirlast names not be used, butwe do have their full namesand addresses on file.

"noticed nothing. Of coursethe car was under perfect con-trol. It was like automaticpilot." Peter concluded thathe could have "gotten into theback seat", and the car's con-trol would not have been affec-ted.

African busabandoned

The couple now noticed whatthey considered a very unusualsight alongside the road. AnAfrican bus was on the side ofthe road with all its lightson, including the interiorlights, but there was no signof anyone. The bus, with allits doors open, was sitting infront of an African tradingpost.

"There should have beenpeople there," said Frances,"but there was not a soul insight." Peter explained thatit appeared that everyone hadgotten off the bus to eat, "butthey normally don't. They sitin there cooped up like chick-ens. They take all their goodswith them. They even use thebus for a toilet. Nobody getsoff."

Frances agreed: "Normallythe bus would be piled highwith chickens and bicycles andsuitcases, but there wasn'tanything."

Having observed what was forthem one unusual vehicle, theysaw a second "mysterious" busonly 7 to 10 kilometers fartherdown the road. The first bushad been facing in the direc-tion the couple were traveling, but the second bus was facingtoward them. There was no storeor other building near thesecond bus, but it likewiseshowed no sign of life.

"They weren't even parked inthe lay-by, and they get heftyfines if they are found by theside of the road not parked ina lay-by," Frances explains."It's a danger to traffic. Nobus driver will park on -the

side of the road if he can pos-sibly help it." Peter added,"If he's broken down, he putsup his triangles."

It was now possible to ascer-tain that the UFO was oval inshape, and it seemed to beeither casting a beam of lightto the horizon or receiving abeam which was cast from thehorizon. It was "a very defin-ite light source," according toFrances. The car was stillsurrounded by the bright light, the witnesses reported. As they entered the outskirts

of Ft. Victoria, Rhodesia, theobject "just shot down and van-ished over the horizon, like ashooting star." Peter now re-gained normal control of theauto.

It was 4:30 a.m. by the carclock when they stopped at Ft.Victoria for fuel, and the autotook the normal amount of gas-oline. The native attendant wasthe only person they had seensince observing the shiny "per-son" with the "walkie-talkie"alongside the road two hoursearlier.

Lights operateafter stop

The attendant said he not-iced that something was wrongwith their lights as they cameinto Ft. Victoria. However, when the lights were switchedback on after the stop, theyseemed to work normally again.

The native attendant alsoexpressed surprise that thecouple were dressed so warmlyand that they had wrapped them-selves in blankets. Francesremarked to the attendant thatit was cold, and he replied,"Is it?" The attendant wasdressed in shorts.

The couple went to the restroom, repacked the car, andPeter checked the car's wiring. He found nothing wrong with thePeugeot 404 sedan. After aboutan hour at Ft. Victoria, where

they saw no person other thanthe attendant, they., continuedtheir'-'-:Journey:- ; towards BeitBridge and Durban, South Afri-ca. "-:\ .' • ' "

About 10 or 12 kilometers (6to 8 mifles) beyond Ft, Victoriathe couple again saw the UFO,but there was also another oneabove them. The one above seem-ed to be either smaller orhigher than the one oh the leftside, '-• :: . "It appeared suddenly as a-pin.prick- of light above us,1,1

said.: Frances. The car lightswere,v still working normally;buf the:blue neon-like lightWas also above them again. •

He again losescontrol of car

Oiice again, however, Peterhad no -control over the auto, which was moving at "an impos-sible speed." From 120 kil-ometers per hour (80 m.p'.ho)outside Ft. Victoria, thespeedometer showed 130, 1^0,170, -"then off the top of thescale," which was 190 (120 m.p.h.) according to Peter. • -

There was very 1ittle.enginenoise, he .said, and little windnoise or sensation of speed, leading him to conciude; thatthe speedometer cable had brok-en. Frances said she • was notaware of the speed.of the auto.

Peter-also noticed that theywere travel ing through what ap-pea red to be a swampy area, even .though there are.no swampsin that part of Rhodesia. "Itis very'dry in that area," ex-plained Peter, "but on this oc-casion it looked very wet andthe vegetation looked verylush." , The road itself wasquite dry.

Frances said she was not asaware of the wetness of. thearea, because she was lookingmore upward than.outward,., butshe noted that there were treesand lush tropical vegetation, even though the area is norm-ally dry, with only an odd treehere and..there. She also not-

iced water weeds.Investigator Carl -van VJier-

den said that his sources a-greed that there were no swampsin that area, which :is. ; verydry. . .-

The couple also noticed thatthe normal sounds, such ascrickets and locusts, were notto be heard. "It was as thoughsomeone had switched the .soundoff." They saw ho animals or

.other, signs of life./The radio was sti11 on, and

: theVrorigihal. radio program ofJazz .,'from 'Lourenco , Marques,Mozambique, ..had been coming .inwell. Howeverj at about 5: *5a.m., ,the radio quit receiving'."There was- nothing,", said Fra'n-

• ces. • .' • • ' " ' . • . ' ' • •.About 6:15 a.m., when day-

light began to replace thenight, Frances says she fell a-sleep. Peter had just turnedthe headlights off. — Francesrecalls that there was "no pinktinge of breaking dawn. It justgradually • got lighter andlighter.-" Although this was atime when many animals werenormally seen, none was observ-ed. ' - -

Peter feelshypnotized

About the time Frances saidshe went to sleep, Peter saidhe began to feel, hypnotized bythe dots or "solid stream" ofthe.center line marking on theroach ..

He said it was "like the in-itial stages when one prepareshimself for astro travel."(Peter says he began "astrotraveling" when he was 14, butquit when he was about 19 be-cause Frances did not like forhim to do it.) "It was exactlythe same sensation as when oneis parting from one's ownsoul,'V said Peter in describinghis feelings after Frances wentto sleep. .

At about 7 a.m., or k$ min-utes after Frances said shefell asleep, .they arrived atBeit Bridge" on the South Afri-

can border. Peter had againregained control -of.the,car a-bout 3 kilometers (2 .miles)outside Beit Bridge. He noted, that he had no recollection ofhaving seen the sun until theyreached Beit Bridge.

They were surprised to dis-cover that the journey had tak-en about an hour less than an-ticipated. They had, in fact, traveled 288 kilometers (180miles) in 1 hour and k$ min-utes, or at an average speed ofabout 100 m.p.h. :'They were even more surprised

to discover that their gas tankwas s t i l l nearly full when theytried to f i l l it at! BeitBridge. The auto took ;6nly 2liters (2 quarts) of gas, or a-bout 22 cents (South African)worth, despite the fact theyhad traveled 186 miles sincef i 1 1 ing the tank.

In checking .the odometer todetermine the. mileage recorded,they found that it had regis-tered only 17 kilometers (10miles) from Ft. Victoria toBeit Bridge instead of the ac-tual distance of 288 kilometers(180 miles). ';

When they arrived at theSouth Africa border check pointat Beit Bridge they, noticedthat a clock on a tower indi-cated the time as 8:3.0: a.m".,whereas the time indicated bythe auto's clock and the wit-nesses' watches was 7:15. Awall clock inside the customsoffice also showed 8:30.

The men in the customs of-fice turned on the. radio tocheck the time, and i t . wasfound that the time was 7:15,and that the two clocks' at theborder were indeed incorrect,,

The customs men did not knowhow long the clocks had beenincorrect, since Peter andFrances were the only personsto have crossed; the border upto that time.

The couple noted that hadthey made .the trip in .^the ex-pected amount .of time, it wouldindeed have been .8:30 when theyarrived, instead of 7:15.

The two objects had . been

Page 5

Page 6: MUFON UFO Journal - 1975 3. March - Skylook

visible when the couple arrivedat Beit Bridge, but Peter andFrances had not pointed themout to the two men on duty atthe border. Frances says theobjects appeared "metallic" inthe daylight, as when ah air-plane reflects the sun. Thetwo objects had "gone up to-gether" and were now verysmal1.

The couple went inside thecustoms office, and when theyemerged from the,off ice the ob-jects could no longer be seen.

Since the reported exper-ience, both witnesses say theyhave experienced changes inthemselves.

Frances, who was previouslyknown for her "photographicmemory," now has difficulty re-membering simple things. Shesays her memory is "very poor,"and Peter says, "She has becomethe dumb blonde."

Frances experiencesprophetic dreams

Frances also has had fivedreams since the sighting, whichshe considers prophetic. Shecould not remember three of thedreams, when queried by Invest-igator van VI ierden on Dec. 1,but she did relate two.

One concerned the completelyunexpected separation of a re-cently-married couple, and theother concerned a dream thatshe would be given 10 rand tospend as she pleased (she re-ceived the 10 rand the verynext day as a surprise gift atthe office where she works as asecretary).

Peter, who says he had hadthe ability to use mental te-lepathy since he was T», seem-ingly lost his ability as a re-sult of the experience.

The auto, has likewise ap-parently been affected by theexperience. The tires, whichare "cheap recaps," were placedon the car in Rhodesia as atemporary measure until suchtime as regular tires could bepurchased in South Africa

The tires on Peter and Frances' Peugot reportedly refuse to wear out.

(Peter explained that tireswere much cheaper in South Af-rica than in Rhodesia).. However, the tires refuse to

wear out, according to Peter."They're just not wearing," hesays. "We've done 7,000 kilo-meters (nearly M,000 miles) onthose tires and there's just nowear."

Peter says he has even takenthe car out on bad roads andtried to "rip off" the retreadswithout success. He assertsthat they are "as good as new"after eight months of wear.

Peter and Frances also reportthat the car has quit usingoil. They previously added oilonce a month.

On the negative side, Peterreports trouble with the car'sstarter, alternater, bearings, rotors, coil, lights, indica-tors, and carbon leads. He saidthat "a majority of the trans-mission" had to be replaced.

No check was made on the autofor possible radioactivity ormagnetism.

The preceding "account wasbased on an interview by In-vestigator van VIierden ofPeter and Frances in their homein Durban, South Africa, onDec. 1, 197**, as well .as onMUFON report forms which theyfilled out on Nov. 28, 197 .

The following is based on a

hypnotic session conducted by

Dr. Paul Obertik, a medicaldoctor, on Dec. 3, 197^, at thesuggestion of Investigator vanVIierden. The doctor was se-lected by the investigator, whowas present during the session.

While Peter proved to be anapparently good subject forhypnosis, Frances did not, soher brief session is not in-cluded.

Readers should be aware thatthe following account is takenfrom an audio tape of the ses-sion, and that it was sometimesdifficult to ascertain what wassaid. Neither van VIierden norDr. Obertik have had an oppor-tunity to check this accountfor accuracy. '?

The account of Peter's ex-perience, as brought out in the (hypnotic session, began about -12 kilometers (8 miles) outsideFt. Victoria. A UFO, about 300yards above the auto, sent downa beam of light into the car Inwhich Peter and Frances wereriding.

This "gave the car a mind ofits^wn," according to Peter. There were voices coming fromthe radio at one point tellinghim what to do. Impulses werebeing sent through the carradio.

"I tried to fight it," said

Page 6

Page 7: MUFON UFO Journal - 1975 3. March - Skylook

Peter. He says a "simulatedscreen" was placed in front ofthe windshield and side windowsof the car—from where he didnot know. The simulated sceneswere "from somewhere else."

'Not on the roadat all'duringentire journey

The auto was off the highway, and "the entire journey wasmade off the tar," according toPeter. "We went , .in a deadstraight 1ine. We were not onthe road at all." He said theydid not touch the road againuntil about 3 kilometers (2miles), .before reaching BeitBridge. .

Peter says his wife "fell a-sleep, or was put to sleep" bythe radio, ; "wh.ich was thevoices," so she cannot rememberthis part of the journey.A form (humanpid?) was beamed

into the back "seat of the car,and sat there the entire jour-ney. Asked what the form look-ed like, Peter replied that hehad been told-by.the form thathe would see what he wanted tosee "in and around and at it-self. If I wanted it to looklike a duck, it would look likea duck. If I wanted it to looklike a monster, it would look1 ike a monster."

Under further probing by;Dr.Obertik, Peter said that "thebeings were physical and had"the same basic forms as hu-mans." He explained that theyhad a "large trunk, neck, hair-less, two legs, two arms."Peter said they had "no form ofreproduction organs," and thathe ;did not know how they repro-duced „

He described them as "mul-ti's," but did not explain whatthat meant. He did say that thebeings were "identical in size, shape, weight, color, looks."

Peter said .''they took aboutseven seconds to..find out thatI had .communicated with thepast, that I had control overmy mind to be.able to give my-

self post-hypnotic suggestions. They, erased this, or tried toerase this, so I wouldn't be,able to be hypnotized, and tellwhat happened inside the motor-car. I just can|t remember. They;are very, very clever.";•;.. He 'said the beings do exper-ience death, but -he does notknow how long they live inEarth time. Peter said the be-ings come from an "outer gal-axy," but they did not say pre-cisely/where. When asked if thebeings could travel faster thanthe speed of light, Peter said,."They -travel by time, notlight." '

'He reports that the beingsare friendly toward.Earth!ings, but do not want to make contactbecause "there are too manypeople who wouldn't understandthem.".

Asked if the beings . couldmake people understand . them,Peter explained that to makepeople understand "would changethe whole world, and they don'twant to do that."

Asked if the beings believein God, Peter replied, "NoGods."

Peter said.he never went in-side the UFO, ;but he could see"up the beam" how things wereinside.

The "machine" had three

levels, he said. The bottomlevel was the power unit. Thesecond level included, the. 1 i-v-ing quarters, the engineeringwing, and the communications.1

The third, or top, level in-cluded the cockpit, the flightdeck, and the inter-astro con-trol center.

He said the entire unit waslinked by two vacuum shafts. To use these shafts, one; placedoneself in the tube and was de-posited oh the level indicated. He said that transportation in-side the craft was by vacuum"suckles."

. the craft was 80 to 90.feetacross, and about 60 feet high, according to Peter.. .He saidthere was a "stabilizer: unit.1,'in the "laboratory section"to simulate Earth, where anyhumans taken aboard -the,craftcould be .placed to.have theirsurroundings;,completely simu-lated. Peter said this sectionwas_l"just .empty space," butthat, through ..suggest ion,. -theperson would.see what the per-son wanted to see. . :

In explain!ng-the propulsionsystem, Peter said that thruston the horizontal plane wasfrom the outer edge -of thecraft, and that up and downmovement was by direct up .ordown thrust.

Peter explains previous sightingPeter told Investigator Carl

van VIierden that he had exper-ienced an earlier sighting of aUFO in July of 1964 while driv-ing a van outside Shabani, Rho-desia, about 60 miles west ofPeter and Frances.' 197^ exper-ience. .

He said he .was! driving thevan, and that his father was apassenger. Peter said he camearound a bend and saw . thesaucer in the middle of thedusty road about four feet offthe ground. .

He said he had to brake inorder to avoid a collision, butthat the saucer, which was only20 or 30 feet away, took off

rapidly. . . .Peter said the object,..which

was a metallic gray, threw redand black dust into the air asit took off.. The dust was sohot, he said, that it was bakedinto the white paint of thevan.

The van had a load of elec-tric tuning equipment, accord-ing to Peter, and "every diodeand valve had to be replaced.",

Looking back on this^ sight-ing, Peter said, "I realizethat.this is a very long timeago, but,, as I said, it couldhave something to do with thefact that on the most : recentoccasion we were picked."

.Rhodesia and ?

Case similaritiesINTENSIVE COLD

The temperature drop (In-terior of auto becoming cold)reported in the Rhodesia case(Peter and Frances) seems un-usual, but such a phenomenon isapparently not without paral-lel.

On Sept. 24, 1974, MichaelByatt and Mrs. Pamela Wi11iamswere driving between Bridgportand Maiden Newton, England, when the engine of their carbegan to lose power and the1ights dimmed.

"All of a sudden it becameintensely cold," Mr. Byatt tolda reporter from the Dorset EVE-NING ECHO. "I did not lose mylights altogether. There seemedto be an eerie presence."He said he observed a yellow-

blue light in the sky in theform of an elipse. A registeredgliding instructor and seniorNCO in the Air Training Corps,Byatt said he could not identi-fy the light with any knownflying object.

TELEPORTATION/TRANSPORTATI ON

The lifting of vehicles byalleged UFO's or other unex-plained forces, as in the Peterand Frances case, is not uncom-mon. SKYLOOK has reported suchcases in the past, but some in-teresting cases not previouslyreported have been located byInternational Coordinator JoeB r i l l :

The first case reportedlyoccurred in the early or middlepart of July, 1969, in thesouthern tip of Brazil, nearFloianopolis. Four businessmen(names available) were ridingfrom Nova Hamburgo in a "Kombi"bus when they observed a "fly-ing saucer" at low altitude asthey rounded a curve in theroad.

A beam of light reportedlyemerged from the saucer andprojected itself onto the bus, impairing the electrical systemof the bus, including . Itslights. Then the bus was liftedinto the;a?r, seemingly by apowerful magnet located in thebase of the saucer.

Following a "marvelousflight" which terrified themen, the bus was placed softlyupon another section of theroad.

The saucer, which was des-cribed as two basins set faceto face and joined at the rims, was s t i l l shooting forth thebeam of light in various col=ors. The men said the saucerstopped a second vehicle, aloaded truck with a licenseplate issued from the city ofBiguacUo

The second case, even morebizzare, reportedly took placein early May, 1968, in Argen-tina, about 100 miles south ofBuenos Ai res.

According to newspaper re-ports from Buenos Aires andCordoba, as well as an accountin FLYING SAUCER REVIEW, awell-known Buenos Aires attor-ney, Dr. Gerardo Vidal, and hiswife were traveling from thetown of Chascomus just beforemidnight to Maipu, about 93mi les to the south.

They were being preceded ohNational Route 2 by anothercouple (names not known) in a-nother auto. According to Dr..Vidal's account, he and hiswife were leaving the suburbsof Chascomus when a "dense fog"suddenly appeared in front ofthem. From that moment, theywere unable to account for thenext 48 hours.

In the meantime,- the couplepreceding the Vidal auto had

backtracked in an effort to lo-cate Dr. and Mrs. Vidal, butthey were unsuccessful.

When the Vidals "came to,"it was daylight and the car (aPeugot 403) was parked, withthem still inside, in an un-known lane. Unhurt, but withneck pains and a feeling thatthey had slept for many hours, they got out of the car.

The surface of the car wasburned, as though with a blow-torch, but it was in perfectoperating condition. Theirwatches had stopped.

After inquiry, the Vidalsdiscovered they were no longerin Argentina, but in Mexico—4,000 miles from where they hadencountered the "fog." Dr.Vidal found the Argentine Con-sulate in Mexico City andphoned relatives (the Rapallinifamily) in Maipu to inform themof their whereabouts.

According to FSR, the Vidal'scar "was sent off to the UnitedStates for scientific study, and it was arranged that hewould receive another car ofthe same make in replacement of

,S.r. Marcilo Ferraz and hiswife were driving south fromSan Paulo, Brazil, when theyencountered a "white cloud"near the Uruguay border, theypassed out, and woke up in Mex-ico.

Both .reportedly sufferedtraumatic shock. The husbandallegedly consulted a doctor afew weeks later and was told hehad ; a brain tumor. Shortlyafter that, he reportedly shothimself. The fourth' case also involves

a "white cloud" or fog, butonly a ' single witness, an 11-year-old girl. " .

On Aug. k, 1968, Gracieladel Lourdes', who lived in a_suburb of Cordoba, Argentina, was looking out the front doorof her home when "a white;cloud, like mist" appeared onthe front, path and graduallycame toward her, she said.

"I could no longer see theother houses, and I ..couldn'tmove, or call out to Mummy,"she explained. Then she..foundherself "on a square wherethere were lots of people,"later identified, as the, PlazaEspana in Cordoba. • ..

After walking for awhile,

the girl began to cry, and thensought aid at a house .in theTenth Police District (her homewas in -the Eleventh Police Dis-

:; trict). '" •"'"Following the experience,

the girl said she felt an in-tense, cold which made her shiv-e r . ' - ' . ' • ' . ' . .A fifth case, for which there

are very few details, suggeststhat in .1968 a. newly-married•BrazM.ian couple had stoppedtheir; Volkswagen in the stateof Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil,

" for a rest, they were suddenlyovercome by drowsiness. Whenthey came to, they and their VWwere in Mexico.

A sixth case, also with fewdetails, also allegedly occur-red in Rio Grande do Sul., Bra-zil in 1968<, Two young menwere in a.-Jeep when they ran-into.; white fog near PortoAlegre. They passed out, andwhen they awoke they also foundthemselves in Mexico.

A seventh, case, also withspotty detail, reportedly in-volved two persons (names un-known), traveling on the Presi-dent Dutra Motorway (Brazil)who were transported to an un-named town in the U. S. whichis near the Mexican border.According to the newspaperDIARIO de NOTICIAS in Rio deJaneiro (Jan. 15, 1969), thecar "bore marks made by thehooks of the transporting ve-hicle."

An eighth case involves nota motor .vehicle, but a horse—although the horse apparentlywas not moved. On the night ofApril 20, 1969, Sr. Dolor Roquewas allegedly riding his horse

: near Itaucu, Brazil, on his wayto a pharmacy, when he "sawsome lights" and lost cons-ciousness.

When he awoke at dawn hefound himself, without thehorse, on some rocks .on thebank of the river Paranaiba atItumbiara, 250 miles fromItaucu (about 150 miles as thecrow flies). He took a busback home, where he found aworried family and his horse,

which .apparently had come homeby itself. "]"~

A ninth case likewise in-. volves ho motor vehicle. Ac-cording to the newspaper LARAZON in Buenos Aires, a 28-year-old man by the name ofCarlos Alberto Diaz claims tohave been blinded by a beam of1ight which came into 'his roomin the city of Bahia Blanca,Argentina, in the early morninghours of Jan. 5, 1975°

He said he was "not able tomove, a muscle," and that /'some-thing like a strong wind raisedme up through the .air", into..theinterior of "a spherical^ cham-ber not provided, with _any./fur-riiture and whose wal Is ,":seemedto be made of translucent plas=tic material." . " ; . ' . .

The young man /claims thatthree small humanoids then pro-ceeded to climb on him.and takesamples of his. hair.by pullingit from his head, ."without myfeel ing any pain." .. , _ .

Diaz passed out, and when heawoke he found himself in Bue-nos Aires, and it was daylight. With him was a newspaper he had.bought in Bahia Blanca, as wellas a duffel bag containing hiswork clothes. His watch hadstopped, .at 3:50 a.m. He hadapparently been transported adistance of about 300 miles.

International CoordinatorJoe. B r i l l is attempting ;to ob-tain additional information onthis most recent case..

A WORD OF CAUTION ,

SKYLOOK readers are cautionedthat most of the above' caseslack significant details, andinvestigations have ranged fromhardly adequate to zero. Thecases are included to indicatepossible patterns, but none hasbeen evaluated by MUFON or SKY-LOOK.

= • T h e possibility of suggest-ability on the part of witness-es in this area of Brazil andArgentina cannot be ruled out, especially in view of the factthat, so many reports of thisnature have been publicized bythe press in that general area.

Did ball of fire leave traces?

Date of Sighting: July 4,1973.Location: La Spezie, Italy (population:

200,000)Submitted by: Joe Brill, International

Coordinator.

By Dr. Marco MariantiMUFON Representative for Italy

On July k, 1973, at 2200 hrs.(10 p.m.) several persons (menand women) watched a luminousgreat "ball of fire," which wasround and reddish, come downfrom the sky at about 80 de-grees with the ground towardthe wires of an electric powerline, and then level to sometens of meters from the soil, fly over the hills and down twovalleys (up and down followingthe ground elevations), andthen disappear out of sightjust behind the top of the lasthill. It did this very slowly.

Some fifteen minutes later, the "ball of fire" rose up frombehind the top of the samehill, at the same site, intothe sky. Then it turned to theright abruptly and disappearedout of sight.

Just behind the top of thath i l l (where the UFO had beenseen to go down and later rose)there are four strange printsin a wild area. They are aboutthe same size and you can seethe "plaster cast" of theclearest print, but no one hadseen the UFO on the ground (thesupposed landing area is out ofsight from all the houses, in aremote place^ about on the topof that h i l l , just behind it).

The witnesses were sure thatthe "ball of fire" was underintelligent control because itappeared to fly following theslopes and countours of theh i l l s and valleys. No news-paper reported this sighting, but one of the witnesses called

, me by telephone.

The cast from imprint "B." Note the broken tiles in the bottom of the print (castis upside down).

THE LOCALITY

(a) Location of the witness-es: Ponzano Magra Inferioreis a group of 15 to 20 housessixteen kilometers east of LaSpezia. The witnesses weresitting in the open air to re-fresh themselves. The surround-ings are wooded hills.(b) The. site of the UFO land-

ing: Near the top of the h i l land all around are wild woodedhill s and ravines. About 100meters from the site there is apylon of an electric power line(130,000 volts). One of the

largest electric power plantsin Europe is located in LaSpezia.

THE LANDING SITE

Mr. Stelio Asso of La Spezia,my friend and director of agood local association (GORU),went there the next day withtwo other "ufologists.""\ The landing site is verystrange: in the right side ofthe little gravel road (a muletrack, with no traffic ofcourse) there is a deep valleyand the lorries of the factory

"Ceramlca" Vaccari" (a factoryproducing small paving tiles)year by year had discharged in-to the .ravine tons of bad pav-ing tiles-and the upper surfaceof the heap is about horizon-tal, something like a "floor"about thirty meters long andfifteen meters wide, just overthe ravine.

This place is called by thefarmers "La Nuda11 (The Naked)because this; is the only groundwithout trees ("La Nuda" is a-bout one hundred meters in di-ameter) : for instance, onlythere could you land a helicop-ter.

One month after the sightingI went there for the firsttime. I .interviewed the wit-nesses (good, reliable people),and Mr. Stelio Asso showed metwo strange round prints thathe had already discovered inthe "floor11 of the paving tiles(A and B prints on the map) andhe could not explain why theywere in such a wild and soli-tary site such as this.

No boys would go there toplay and in the prints the pav-ing tiles were broken. "If aUFO lahded here," said Mr.Asso, '"why do we find only twoprints?" ',

Speaking with the witnessesabout the "apparent size" ofthe."bail"'"(had realized thatthe UFO could be one of greatsize, more than twenty meters(60 feet) in diameter, A big"landing ;gear," I said to my-self, so that I checked in thesurroundings in quest of otherprints. '""";

I found :C and D (see map)hidden among the bushes (theseprints have" the same size.)Print D is in a steep slope ofabout 70-80 centimeters lowerthan A, B and C.

A, B, C are kQ centimetersacross at "floor" level and 22centimeters''deep. D is 30 cen-timeters across at ground leveland only 15 centimeters deep.A, B, and C prints are in thepaving tile "floor," but Dprint is in'' the ground at aslightly lower level.

Gibsonia, Pa.

UFO, creature sightings rBy Stan Gordon

Reports of not only UFO's,.-but. sightings of various typesof creatures near Gibsonia, . - •Pa., have been keeping Pennsyl-vania Center For UFO Researchinvestigators busy since July,'\S7b, when the reports began.

Beginning in July, sightingsof Bigfoot-like creatures wereoriginating ' from a trailercourt in the area. A creaturewas seen .looking into the win-dow of a trailer at a femaleresident. The Woman describedit as being 7i to 8 feet tall, and having very, large glowinggreen eyesc

Several days later, severalclaw marks were found in ascreen which were too high fora cat to have done. Otherresidents of the trailer parkreported to .police that there, was a prowler in the area. One-resident, 'who refuses to talk, returned to his mobile home tofind the door knob pulled off.

One interesting note is thatone family who "had trouble withthe mystery prowler reportedthat on two occasions theiryoung children had nightmaresabout UFO's, and during one ofthese instances when the childawoke, the father looked out-side and saw a UFO. hoveringnearby.

PCFUFOR investigators search-ed an abandoned tunnel in the"area of-.the creature sightings, and came across several three-toed footprints, T» inches inlength from the heel to toe.The toes were 3A" deep intothe soil and there were three -inches between the toes. Therewere a large number of pigeonfeathers in the immediate areaof the prints. Some of thefeathers s t i l l had fatty tissueupon them,,

Also about the same time thisactivity was occurring, just ashort distance down the road alarge UFO reportedly dived downon a gas station. The owner 'of •

Cost of one of several three-toed printsfound.

the station and an .'. employeedescribed the object as about80 feet long, oblong in shape, with a dark dome, A number ofrevolving lights were seen a-round 'the "outside structure.

. One customer reportedly wasso scared by the sight that heran into -the rest room andlocked the door. The objectcame out of the N.E. and divedto within 300 feet of theground. It then climbed in al-titude and was out of sight ina matter of seconds. There wasno sound from the.object, ac-cording to witnesses.

.There were other reports inthe area of lights in the sky,as well as low-level observa-tions in the weeks to follow.

Then, in September, evenstranger reports were beingmade by local residents. Therehad been several encounterswith a tall human-like figure-dressed in a silver metallicsui t.

The first incident involveda young couple who were drivingdown a back road when the fig-ure was seen on the side of theroad. They reported that thefigure raised his hand, and thelights of the car went out andthe vehicle stopped. The figurethen' approached the car andflashed a bright light whichseemed to emit, from a cube-

shaped device at the two youngpeople. The,couple, after theexperience, -ran into a local.establishment .. to report theevent.

About an hour and a halflater, a man in a truck.report-.ed a similar event. Several.other incidents of this natureoccurred during September.

By far the strangest storyof all occurred about 8:30 p.m.on Dec. 30 near the TurnpikeBridge. A lone woman driverwas. returning home from workwhen in front of her car shesaw what was described as ,"ametal lie spider." .

She said the .thing was abouttwo feet in diameter, 12 i.nchesin height, and that there def-initely were joints, like spi-der legs, which she believeswere eight in number. The topsection was glowing when hitwith her head! ights', but thebottom half was dark. The legsappeared to be metal lie, ratherthan organic, in structure. The driver was going too fast

when she came across the"thing" and she ran over it inher Volkswagen. She .heard nosound, and felt no impact whenthis occurred. When she arrivedhome she was quite hysterical, according to her husband. Hereturned to the spot, a shorttime after the incident occur-red, but was unable to findanything.

As you have probably not|ced, the names of the above witness-es have been omitted, due tothe fact that they have askedto remain anonymous because ofthe unusual nature of., theevents. The names and address-es, however, are on file withthe PCFUFOR.

Variousother types of squipment, suchas portable video tape equip-ment, remote controlled TV sys-tems and a two-way radio sys-tem have been put into use tobetter document the phenomenonas it occurs.

Within a short time, subcom-mittees of specially trainedinvestigators will be set up invarious sections of the stateto handle investigations of alocal nature. Any PennsylvaniaMUFON member wishing to becomemore actfve in statewide UFOinvestigations may apply formembership by writing to thePCFUFOR.

Pennsylvaniansreport 300sightings

By Stan Gordon

The year 197^ brought over300 UFO sightings to the Key-stone State. A breakdown ofthe types of sightings has notyet been completed; however, besides lights in the sky, there were low level, chases, physical damage cases, occupantand creature sightings, andnear landings. At this time, a general study

of the reports indicates thatapproximately 95% have a natur-al explanation. But sightingsof unexplained aerial phenomenacontinue to persist. Alreadyseveral dozen UFO sightingshave been reported in 1975.On Jan. 2, at 1 p.m., several

women observed a bright silvercircle moving through jthe skynear McKeesport. That same ev-ening numerous residents nearIrwin and Jeanette reported ob-serving a large circular darkobject with rotating lights onthe bottom.

On Jan. 10, several UFOsightings were reported in-Westmoreland, Indiana, and Al-legheny counties. The firstreport was from a doctor andhis nurse who observed a brightwhite circular object with ared light on the right side. The object made a high whine, and moved in a circular motion. The doctor had been a UFO skep-tic until seeing this.

Near Bethel Park in thePittsburgh area,, witnesses ob-served a bright round whitelight with four streams ofsmoke at the bottom that wasmoving fast across the sky.

Then on the evening of Jan.31, police departments in var-ious sections of the Pittsburgharea were receiving UFO re-ports. Most of the reportswere of a solid blue luminousdisc that moved horizontally a-cross the sky at a fast rate.

UFO's Behind the Iron Curtain'• By Joe Brill

On Dec. 3, 1967, at 1500 hrs(Moscow Time) the eyewitnessesof a flight of a UFO were the20 crew members of an IL-18planej aircraft number 75898,in the vicinity of the city ofVorkuta. Included among thewitnesses were the pilot andco-pilot, comrades Volkov andBerezhnoy, and the flight engi-neer, Y.N. Golubenko.' I n the written report sub-mitted through proper channels, they report that at an altitudeof nine kilometers (about29,000 ft.), they observed thefly-by of a luminous disc at analtitude of about twenty-fivekilometers (about 81,000 ft,)with conical radiation directedtoward the earth, which illumi-nated a considerable section ofthe terrain under conditions oftotal polar night, and two sidearched glows; the speed of thedisc, according to their esti-mates, was five thousand kilo-meters per hour (about 3,100 m.p.h.).

The indicated disc was ob-served at the same time by thecrew of an IL-1^ airplane, air-craft number 1*105," which flewby in the same area, and wasalso observed from the groundstations in the area.

The following statement wassigned by A. I. Lisitsyn, co-worker of the State ScientificResearch Institute of C i v i lAviation:

Spain: Maximiliano Iglesias Sanchez

Additional details on occupant case

EDITOR'S NOTE: Additional detailsconcerning the alleged observation ofUFOs and occupants by MaximilianoIglesias Sanchez, of Salamanca, Spain, onMarch 21-22 have been obtained throughthe efforts of International CoordinatorJoe Brill and MUFON Representative forSpain Pere Redon. Translation was byDr. Willard P. Armstrong.

BACKGROUND

This case was described Indetail in a story by Pere Redonand Joan Crexells in the Decem-ber, 197^, SKYLOOK, page 3through 1,

Maximiliano Iglesias Sanchez,a truck driver, was driving atruck between the village ofHorcajo de Montemayor and La-gunilla about 2:15 or 2:30 a.m.on March 21 when he observed avery strong white light on thehighway.

He eventually saw that some-thing was resting on the high"way. At this point his lightswent out and the truck enginedie'd. The light from the objectwas now less intense, and beobserved a metallic "ship"(UFO) on the road, and anotherhovering -nearby.

From the right of the objecton the ground, two "beings" ap-peare'd. But they returned tothe object, and it- rose intothe air. Maxi started the truckand everything, including thelights, worked. He drove pastthe landing site, stopped about500-600 feet down the road, looked back, then went home.

That same day at about 11:15p.m., he was returning over thesame route when he again saw abright light at the same loca-tion as previously.

There were three lighted ob-jects on the ground, and he ob-served four "beings." The fourappeared to see Maxi, and began

Page 16

walking-toward him. He ran fromthe truck, which had experi-enced failure of engine andlights, followed by the beings.

Maxi jumped into a drainageditch and hid successfully.

After the beings had quitsearching, he walked away fromthe area, but returned a shorttime later to the truck. He.could not get the engine to re-spond, but he again attractedthe attention of the beings.

This time they> returned tothe "ship" and it lifted fromthe road. Now he was able tostart the truck, so he turnedon the lights and "buzzed outof there."

However, he. stopped., about600 feet down the: road and re-turned to see what the beingswere doing. He saw that theywere, .using two -toolsr—one-..-inthe form of a capital T and theother -shaped like a . largehorseshoe—to work on an. earth-en embankment of the highway.

After observing about threeminutes his fear became strong-er than his curiosity, so hereturned to the truck, startedit, and left the:area.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Additional, research on thecase has been done by D. Vi-cente Rico Gil, of Bejar, a.staff member at-the Administra-tion of Justice; The witnesSjMaxi Iglesias, had left formilitary duty, so he was notavailable. However, other in-formation was obtained.

THE WITNESS

It was determined that Maxihad lived in .the home- of theowner of the truck, D. A1uil-ino, and came and wen.t withoutany particular notice.

-On. the morning ^followinghis chase by the '.'be ings, "sev-eral persons, including theowner of the truck, the civil

guard, and neighbors : 1ivingnear where the truck was parkedobserved him wearing coveralIscovered with dried mud. OnlyD. Aquilino was 'told how thecoveralls became soiled.

THE TRUCK

The truck is of the >"Avia"make with' a "diesel-'-engine. Anew -battery had" been" iiistal ledonly a" few weeks • before thesightings. Following the sight-ings the battery was taken to agarage - (the Roger •- shop- inBejar), where it was determinedthat it had been completelydischarged. •

THE OBJECTS ("SHIPS")

"The two objects of the firstsigh'ting and the three-of:thesecond were identical, exceptfor a variation in luminosity. The landing pods were drawn outfrom the central point on "thebottom of the objects, and-hadthe form of tripods. Theirlength was estimated to be 18inches.

The interiors ofr the objectswere not in view during eitherobservation, and" the witnesscould not tell-how the beingsentered or left the objects.

THE TERRAIN

Investigator D. Vicente Ricovisited the site some weeksafter the sighting in the-com-pany of D. Valeriano GarciaGuijo, a resident of Horcajo deMontemayor,- who is a truckdriver very familiar with thearea. . . . • . r.

It was established that thesite was. at number 7 kilometersbetween hectometers 2 and 3 ofhighway 135 from Bejar to So-toserrano. The site is thus 1kilometer .(six-tenths . of amile) from Valdehijaderos inthe direction of Sotoserrano, and 3 kilometers (2 miles) from

Horcajo de Montemaydr in thedirection of Bejar.

The area is,made up of pas-tures and woodlands, with verylittle land in cultivation. Theproduction of cattle is themajor source of income.

POSSIBLE CORROBORATI ON

Do Valeriano Garcia said thaton the night or early morningof the sightings (March 22) thefamily and friends of a de-ceased resident of Horcajo deMontemayor were waiting forother friends and relatives toarrive from Barcelona.

While looking toward the roaathey saw "a great illumination"about 3 kilometers away in thedirection of Valdehijaderos(this estimate of distance, .ifaccurate, would place the lightat the site of the a 1leged ob-servations).

Corrections forFebruary SKYLOOK

Three correction? have beenreceived from authors concern-'ing articles in the February,1975, SKYLOOK:

•Len Stringfield advises usthat the creature case (Cove-dale area, , Western.Cincinnati)reported on pages 3-6 (and inthe listing of humanoid reportsreceived by Bloecher and Webb, page "/) took place on Oct.21,1973, not on Oct. 12.

Stringfield also advises thatthe reference to the size ofthe shield in the above article(first column, page 4) shouldread: By Mrs. Heitfield's esti-mate, the object or she!Id wasapproximately 7 feet in diam-eter. (Not 15 feet)

Ernest Berger advises us. that.the next to last . paragraph inthe Bavarian-Alps case ."(pages8-11) should read: Geologicalmaps do indicate major tectonicfaults running through the flaparea.... • . -

Recapping and commentingBy Richard Hall

(This column is directed to-wards articles appearing in theJanuary, 1975, edition of SKY-LOOK) .

The two Tasmanian UFO casesin September, 1974, involvingeffects on automobiles andtheir drivers are instructivein many ways.

Both cry for follow-up, andsuggest the possible need for aMUFON committee to bulldog se-lected cases that have a highpotential for yielding techni-cal data and technologicalclues.

The .first (9-16)/includes E-• M , effects (total), vibratorynoise, electrical shock, and anodorous gas~an impressive ar-ray despite the lack of aclear-cut associated UFO (only.light in the sky).

Immediate examination of thecar by. a mechanic js reported, and later a thorough garage ex-amination.. Numbness, welts, etc., reported by the witnesswere checked by.a doctor. Onehopes TUFOIC (the Tasmaniangroup) obtained statements fromal1 these people..

Since,all this happened ab-ruptly on a bridge, some dataon the bridge should be obtain-ed. '. ' '.

The second case (9-22) in-volved a very clear-cut UFO,apparently - close by, yet theonly E-M effect on the car wasa radio" noise. The woman'sstraightened hair and the re-moval of dust and dirt, from thefront of the car are suggestiveof. static electricity.

' I n neither case is the yearand make of car and data on themotors and electrical systemsgiven. Detailed investigationand study of a few dozen .caseslike this—with physical - and

physiological effects whose dy-namics can be explored afterthe fact—would be worth farmore than thousands of i fly-byreports. j

I agree wholeheartedly withStan Gordon's appeal fori multi-discipline research, :but con-fess to being baffled by htslogic in decrying "the problemof disbelief" by UFOlogists. Are Bigfoot-like creatures be-ing seen in conjunction withUFOs? Let's have the data. Alist of cases by date • and lo-cation where this'link Ms made, based on direct observationalevidence, would form a! basisfor discussion on the merits ofthe data. :- • '• \

I think some colleagues areskeptical that such a Ilink isbeing assumed, and question thevalidity of using it as a pointof departure until compellingevidence is assembled.

There are always a few re-ports floating around in whichUFOs are 1 inked with everythingfrom blobs to cyclopean mon-sters, but they do not consti-tute anything approaching afact that we must accept.

Stan does report a few UFO-creature cases in his 1J974 MU-FON symposium article, but theyare buried among creature-non-UFO cases, which may be 'part ofthe problem. Ample reports ex-,ist of creatures and of UFOs;but how many exist.of creaturesWITH UFOs, and how well-sub-stantiated are they? i

PS I (Project Starlight In-ternational), whose instrumen-tation program seems extremelyworthwhile, now claims/to havereceived a light signal! from aUFO transmitting the inverse ofPi (i ,e.,-about ~.3 or 3A10).

It is not obvious how such asignal could be sent—or re-ceived. The article wa£ a newsreport rather than a technicalreport from PS I, but that needsexplaining. j

of ARGOSY.Dave Webb's 1973-YEAR OF

THE HUMANOIDS is an excellentsurvey of the reports, involvingUFO occupants which took placeduring the 1973 flap. If you'rea data-gatherer,- Webb providescharts, graphs, comparisonswith previous flaps, etc, Ifyou just like to read Ufonautaccounts for entertainment (orfascination), you won't be dis-appointed either..Comprehensivereports of this type are sorelyneeded in UFO research and itis always a pleasure to-see oneso completely done. The bookletmay be ordered from MUFON for$3.00.

If books dealing with astro-nomical mysteries intrigue you,I think you'll like RichardBaum's book, THE PLANETS: SOMEMYTHS AND REALITIES. Baum dis-cusses a variety of subjectswhich have provoked controversyin astronomical circles formany years. Does the Moon haveits own satel1ite(s)? Are there23-mile-high •' mountains onVenus? Do the planets Neptuneand Uranus have ring systemslike those of Saturn? Theseare a few of the topics cover-ed. Even though the book-con-tains no direct references toUFOs (naturally!), there areaccounts" of anomalous observa-tions which were attributed tostars, planets, comets, etc.,but which really sound far morelike UFOs. At any rate, Baumpresents the data and you candraw your own conclusions. Thebook is available from HalstedPress - John Wiley & Sons, Inc.605 Third Ave. - N. Y., N. Y.10016 for $8.95.

Erich von Daniken's fourthbook, IN SEARCH^ OF ANCIENT•GODS,-does: not contain' much newmaterial, text-wise, but thesub-title—"My Pictorial Evi-dence for the Impossible"—summarizes the book's intent. This is a beautiful collection

of photos—both in color andb 1 ack-and-wh i.te—dep let i ng manyof the places and bits of evi-dence which von Daniken has setforth in his three previousbooks. In the space of '2kkpages, you w i l l find a total of37 * photographs. Von Dan!ken'sbasic theme must surely be fa-m i l i a r to everyone by now, sothis volume provides a goodchance to thumb through thepictures at random. A beauti-fully-done book, and rather abargain at,$8.95. The publisheris G. P." Putnam's Sons - 200Madison Ave. - N.Y., N.Y. 10016

Eric 6 Craig-Umland's MYSTERYOF THE ANCIENTS must surelyrank as one of the most unusualand speculative books to bepublished in some time. Theauthors contend that those peo-ple of mystery, the Mayas, wereextraterrestrial ,- colonists. They cite various sources toback up their beliefs, but theentire concept is built on arather skimpy framework of"evidence." Agreed, there areseveral enigmas associated withthe Mayas and the Umland broth-ers do cite some referenceswhich are quite intriguing, butI'm afraid their overall theoryw i l l not be-taken very serious-ly by either Ufologists, be-lievers in "ancient astronauts"or by authorities on the Mayancivilization. It is refreshingto see original thinking, butit must be supported by solidevidence. The book is publishedby Walker 6 Co. - 720 FifthAve. - N. Y«, N. Y. 10019; theprice -is $7.95.

Since Duncan Lunan announcedhis theory in 1973 that an in-terstellar space probe might bein!orbit within the Earth-Moonsystem, quite a lot of discus-sion has centered around thistopic.
