    Moorabools poll challengeMoorabool council is calling on candidates, MPs and ministers standing in the state election to show their hand and pledge their commitment to fund vital infrastructure in the shire. Mayor Paul Tatchell said it was now or never for them to make the commitment. Since the release of the shires key advocacy document, Moorabool Shire Council Key Priority Projects, earlier in the year, councillors and staff have met almost all state election candidates for the Buninyong, Melton and Gisborne seats.

    Meltons community heroesMelton council is calling for residents to nominate community achievers for the 2015 Community Achievement Awards. Categories include citizen of the year, young citizen of the year (under 25), community project of the year, and woman of the year. Nomination forms are at www.melton.vic.gov.au, Melton or Caroline Springs civic centres or the Melton Library and Learning Hub. Nominations are open until November 30.     Bacchus Marsh Golf Club was aglow in pink last week in support of breast cancer research and the McGrath Foundation.

    Golfers either wore pink or paid up during a light-hearted, fun-filled week at the club whose ladies group even teed off with pink balls last Wednesday; they raised about $300.

    Lady captain Margot Dunne said the group was passionate about the cause because so many woman were affected, including some club members.

    Its important to support each other and, by being part of a social group, you dont feel so alone, Ms Dunne said.

    The ladies are fantastic with supporting each other.

    She said the group wanted to also support the McGrath Foundations mission to find an

    extra 150 breast care nurses to be deployed around Australia.

    During last weeks friendly competition, Mandy Willaton took home first prize a pink Calvin Klein T-shirt donated by event sponsors Romano Property Group.

    Romano also donated $5000 for every property it sold last week.

    Ms Dunne said the ladies group aimed to hold fundraisers for at least two different causes each year.

    Their next fundraiser will be a gala day for ovarian cancer on November 12.

    Meanwhile, the rest of October will be pink month and golf club members and guests are being asked to donate a gold coin to the charity.

    Mondays are a day to look forward to for the youngest residents of Diggers Rest, and their families its play day.

    Every Monday morning Diggers Rest Primary School hosts the Little Diggers playgroup, which invites babies and children up to preschool age, and their families, for a morning of activities and socialising.

    Facilitator Lisa Giggins said the playgroup was the only one in the area and an extremely important outlet for Diggers Rest families.

    The children get used to seeing each other, week after week and they look forward to coming and seeing their playgroup friends, Ms Giggins said. They can play with a lot of different children around their age, which they really enjoy.

    She said it was also a great opportunity for parents.

    They get to meet other parents in the community who are in the same position with young children, and they can share their stories with each other, she said.

    I enjoy providing the opportunity to these families, to be able to come together.

    Everybody is welcome to come and join our playgroup meet new families and make new friends.
