    June 16, 2013 - 11th Sunday In Ordinary Time| 3

    FROM THE PASTOR

There are many kinds of fathers. Heavenly fathers. Holy fa-

thers, fathers who are also priests and of course, everyone's

dear old dad. All of these fathers work hard to sustain, sup-

port, care for and encourage those God has entrusted to

    them.

The day set aside to remember fathers is a modern inven-

on. Aer Mothers Day was a big success, Fathers Day was

set aside by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 as the thirdSunday of June. In his proclamaon Johnson wrote -- "We look

to fathers to provide the strength and stability which charac-

terize the successful family. If the father's responsibilies are

many, his rewards are also greatthe love, appreciaon, and

respect of children and spouse....I urge all our people to give

public and private expression to the love and gratude which

    they bear for their fathers."

I agree with President Johnson. And so did the ad agencies

and markeng firms that worked so hard to push the idea of

remembering and honoring dads with golf clubs, neck es and

fancy shirts. But thinking about what I know as a father/priest,

I think dads are not looking for the kind of gi

that comes inwrapping paper or is aached to a TV remote. He's not looking

for kids to spend money or buy socks or an extravagant pair of

    ckets.

What fathers really want are a few moments of quiet me

with their families, just enjoying each other. No drama. No

TV. No yelling and screaming. No cell phones. It's something

that can't be bought. It can only be given and shared. A simple

meal around the table for a half an hour with all the family

together, just eang and talking and sharing their

day. Watching their wives holding their kids and smil-

ing. Having me to watch a baby sleep. Sharing a simple pleas-

ure like a bar of chocolate while sing on the front door

step. Geng me to enjoy the family pet.Life just goes and goes, non-stop, 24/7. So what I think fa-

thers really want is a day off. No "honey do" list. No

chores. No ball games. Just a game of catch in the back yard,

or a nap in the easy chair. Or a chance at the TV remote for a

few hours. And if dad didn't get this gi for Father's Day,

there's always next weekend. Think about it. Pray about it. It

really is those lile moments that sck in our minds and our

    hearts.

In honor of all fathers, let us pray -- God our Father, you gov-

ern and protect your people and shepherd them with a fa-

thers love. You place a father in a family as a sign of your love,

care, and constant protecon. May fathers everywhere be

faithful to the example shown in the Scriptures: steadfast in

love, forgiving transgressions, sustaining the family, caring for

those in need. Give your wisdom to fathers that they may en-

courage and guide their children. Keep them healthy so they

may support a family. Guide all fathers with the Spirit of your

love that they may grow in holiness and draw their family ever

    closer to you. Amen.

RESUMEN MENSUAL DE COLECTAS/GASTOS DE LAPMSLR - Mes de: Mayo del 2013

    Colectas: $ 87,930.78

    TEF/Dando en Lnea: $ 19,196.88

    Total de Colectas: $107,127.66

    Total de Gastos Ordinarios: $148,511.23

    Dficit/Diferencia: < $ 41,383.57>

    do.

Viendo a sus esposas abrazando a sus hijos y sonriendo. Tomar

    amor, cuidado y proteccin constante.

Dales gracia y paciencia

para manejar situaciones en una manera amorosa. Amn.

COLECTA DE PETES PENCELa prxima semana tendremos
