What is AP Biology?
The National AP Exam
• Monday, May 14, 2012
• $87 fee collected in March (fee reduction available for those in need)
• 100 Multiple Choice Questions & 4 Free Response (essay) questions.
• Scores of 3, 4 or 5 considered “passing”
Why Take the National Exam?
• Show how much you have learned!
• You may be exempt from taking intro-level or freshman Biology course in college
• Get into college honors program
• Shows motivation, maturity, and readiness on college applications

Grades are posted online every 1-2 weeks. (P/S portal)
Labs
• 12 major labs are covered in AP
• (we’ll do more than 12!)
• Missed labs must be scheduled to be made up within 1 week of the student’s return
Exams
• Exams are given regularly & are in the same format as the AP test (usually 40-60 MC questions w/ a time limit of 40-50 minutes)
• Free Response (Essay) questions are given with most tests
