Class: “He was important civil rights leader and co-founder of the NAACP.”
Shirley Chisholm November 30, 1924 – January 1, 2005
Class: “She was the first black congresswoman and first female presidential candidate.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968
Curtis: “He had a dream that all children could go to school together.”
He was leader of the American Civil Rights Movement of non-violence from December, 1955 until April 4, 1968
Benjamin Banneker(November 9, 1731 – October 9, 1806)
Byron: “He was a great mathematician.”
was a free African American astronomer, mathematician, surveyor, almanac author and farmer.

Started a school for African Americans and was an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
