•  Augusta is a small town situated on the south-eastern coast of Sicily.  The old town is built on an island linked to the mainland  by means of two bridges. After the 50s the town became  bigger and broadened  also the mainland

At the entrance of the old town , after the bridge, you can come into the town through a gate. The gate, built in the XVII century, is called Spanish gate because it was built by the Spanish people during the Spanish domination.

A castle dominates the town. It was built in the XIII century by the emperor Frederick II who founded the town too. Walls and other fortifications were built around the ancient castle in the  XVI century.

Augusta has got an important port also used by the oil refineries that  are located in the territory.

During the summer all of us  love going to the seaside. Augusta has got wonderful wide cliffs and not many sandy  beaches. One of the most popular places of meeting frequented by young people in summer  is the so-called Faro. It is named after  the lighthouse located on cliff.

 This is  our school. It’s a modern building. On the ground floor there is the primary school and on  the first flood there is the junior secondary school.
