Call Numbers are used to locate books on the shelves in the library. The call number for Non-Fiction books consists of the Dewey

Decimal number and the first three letters of the author's last name.

500 – Science & MathematicsBRY - Bryson

Call numbers are located on the spine of the book about an inch from the bottom.

Non-Fiction books are placed on the shelf in numerical order, starting with the smallest number and ending with the largest number.

If books share the same Dewey Decimal number, then the books are put in alphabetical order by the author’s name. If the author has more than one book with the same call number, then the books are put in order by the title.

Several books have the Dewey Decimal 932, so the books are put in order by author.

Two books share the call number 979.7 MorMurray Morgan wrote both books, so the books are put in order by the title.
