EQUITY Market Sensex 31283.64 (-0.04) Nifty 9633.60 (-0.21)
Closing Bell: BSE Sensex closed lower by 13.89 points, or 0.04%, to 31,283.64, while the Nifty 50 fell 19.90 points, or 0.21%, to 9,633.60. The markets fell on Wednesday, tracking Asian peers, as investors waited for minutes of a policy meet by the central bank to gauge the direction of interest rates in the months ahead. The minutes are likely to delve into details of interest rates, with a high likelihood that more members softened their inflation outlook. Oil explorers fell after global oil prices hit seven-month lows, with Oil and Natural Gas Corp. falling as much as 2.54% and Oil India down as much as 1.91%. Airlines stocks, however, rose on expectations of lower jet fuel prices, with Spicejet Ltd and Jet Airways up about 2.5%, and InterGlobe Aviation, parent of IndiGo Air, climbing 1.6%. Plummeting oil prices put Asian investors on edge, overshadowing a decision by US index provider MSCI to add mainland Chinese stocks to its global emerging markets benchmark index. Larsen & Toubro Ltd rises 1.4% to Rs1,775.50 after a huge block deal. Around 13.84 million shares of the company changed hands in two block deal. Amtek Group stocks were trading higher after Business Standard reported that Bain Capital, TPG Capital, DA Capital, and Piramal Enterprises are in the fray to buy a stake in the debt-ridden Amtek Auto. The company has received expressions of interest (EoIs) from 21 investors, including asset reconstruction companies. Amtek Auto Ltd rose 6%, Castex Technologies Ltd 14%, Metalyst Forgings Ltd rose 7%, JMT Auto Ltd 0.4%. Aviation stocks gain after international crude oil prices fell to a seven-month low. InterGlobe Aviation Ltd rose 1.5%, SpiceJet Ltd 2.2% and Jet Airways India Ltd was up 1.8%. Credit Analysis and Research Ltd rises 2.4% to Rs1,490 after Canara Bank decided to sell nearly 9% stake in the credit ratings firm CARE Ltd that could fetch it over Rs393 crore. ABB rises 2.5% to Rs1,532.25 while Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) rises 1.5% to Rs1,777.30. According to an Economic Times report, ABB, the Swedish-Swiss multinational, is in discussions with L&T to acquire its electrical and automation division. The division that generated revenues of Rs4,650 crore and operating profit of a little over Rs700 crore in 2016-17 is expected to be valued at Rs14,000-18,000 crore. On International Yoga Day, we are exploring an investment opportunity in the listed gym firm Talwalkars Better Value Fitness. Share price of the fitness firm have outperformed benchmark equity index BSE Sensex in the past one year. The scrip has delivered 31 per cent in the past one year, whereas the 30-share index has advanced 16.49 per cent during the same period. Most of the auto stocks were trading lower in early trade after reports that the introduction of the goods and services tax (GST) could be a speed-breaker on the growth highway but the bumpy ride should be a short one. ET reported that June could see a fall of up to 8 per cent in car sales as dealers are refusing to stock up until July 1, the date of GST roll-out.

Crude oil shed 2 per cent on Tuesday as increased supply from several key producers overshadowed high compliance by Opec and non-Opec producers on a deal to cut global output. The drop took US crude down 20 per cent from its recent high and thus into official bear territory, a red flag to investors who follow technical trends.
Overall market remained bullish in June with robust inflows from foreign institutional investors and hope of a good monsoon this year. The BSE Sensex advanced 0.51 in the past 14 sessions till June 20, jumping from 31,137 on June 1, 2017 to 31,297 on June 20.
Brokerage Reliance Securities is bullish on HDFC with a target price of Rs 1,786. The stock hit a new high of Rs 1,695.5 on June 19. Over the last few years, HDFC has proven its competitive edge over peers through decent growth in business, stable spreads, well-managed asset quality and better performance in other financial business subsidiaries. CadilaBSE -0.60 % Healthcare, Natco PharmaBSE 0.32 % and Laurus Labs scaled their new highs in the pharmaceutical space despite regulatory issues and fear of price erosion in the sector. Almost all pharma companies witnessed tremendous pressure on topline as well as bottom line in last quarter ended March 31, 2017.
In the aviation space, SpiceJet hogged the limelight and touched a new high of Rs 128.20 on June 20. According to reports, more than 800 new aircraft are likely to enter the domestic aviation market, that has been seeing a double digit growth, in the coming years. Carriers like SpiceJet, IndiGo, GoAir and Jet Airways have plans or firmed up orders for over 800 new planes, including a good number of smaller aircraft.
The new Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime will bring several benefits for the economy, and could particularly boost the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. The rates for various FMCG segments have mostly been along expected lines. Items of mass consumption—toothpaste, soaps, hair oil—have been put under the 18 per cent tax slab, significantly lower than the 22-24 per cent tax rate they have been paying.
Growth in the room air conditioning (AC) segment is expected to be flat YoY during April-June 2017 as dealers avoid fresh buying and resort to destocking or inventory clearance due to the likely implementation of GST in July 2017.
