Festival “Night of Arts”Moscow lives at a high speed, observing that sometimes it’s even difficult to stop - Solid work sched-ule, endless to-do list, a tight schedule did not leave a successful modern towns-people time to realize their creative potential. Typing on a computer keyboard, someone dreams to touch the piano keys, speaking at the talks, someone dreams of amateur theatre scene, and some are of his per-sonal exhibition, drawing on the frozen glass latecomer bus...

That is why the “Night of Arts” in 2014 - is, for the first of all, a night of creativ-ity. As we envision the main task shares this year - giving city residents the opportuni-ty to realize their dreams, in which they can write poetry or portraits, or play Hamlet guitar twist fuete or potter’s wheel.

Guests regardless of age, can enjoy themselves in var-ious fields of art - painting, sculpture, literature, acting and music – by visiting mas-ter classes and open classes by reputable artists, organ-ized in theatres, museums, libraries, houses of culture, concert halls and theatres.

Most part of the mas-ter-classes are on Russian language, so we have found events that could be inter-esting without understand-ing Russian language.

Please register in advance by using the links of the time pad to access the events.

New British Film FestivalUntil the November 9th

International Festival of New British Cinema is Russia’s largest cinema event of this scale with the best British films.

The mission of the British Film Festival is to show a more complete picture of the cinematic image of Great Britain.

The XV Festival of New British Cinema in Moscow this year is divided into five equally important parts: “Freedom and finding their place in the world”, “Responsibility to society”, “about music and self-expression,” “On Liter-ature and theatre” and “On painting and photography.”

In each of the sections of the audience waiting on a few entertaining, and even prominent prime.

This is particularly true of the last three on the art, the sections where the Russian audience will see two stun-ning biopic, tells about the most dramatic moments of the lives of two titans of English culture of the 19th century - a classic for all times of Dickens (“The Invis-ible Woman” Ralph Fiennes) and the brilliant landscape Turner (“William Turner” Mike Leigh).

The first two sections, in

turn, are permeated free-dom-loving spirit of the an-ti-capitalist: the comedy “Pride” is ded-icated to the miners’ strike in 1984 (and timely assis-tance received by miners from the most unexpected source), and the documen-tary film “Dangerous Game” reveals the inside story of another undertaking notori-ous billionaire Donald Trump , shells build Scotland luxe golf resort without regard to the opinion of local resi-dents.

Individual words deserve autobiographical satire on the mores of the British tab-loids, filmed by former tab-loid journalist Rich Peppiat-tom (“rogue reporter”)

and epic documentary re-port on world tour play Sam Mendes “Richard III”, with Kevin Spacey in the title role (“ Now: good Welcome be-hind the scenes “).

All the films are in English with Russian subtitles!

What is the Unity Day ?Asking yourself why this weekend is so long? On November 4th, Russia cel-ebrate the Unity Day.

Unity Day (also called Day of People’s Unity or National Unity Day) is a national hol-iday in Russia. It commem-orates the popular uprising which expelled Polish–Lith-uanian Commonwealth oc-cupation forces from Mos-cow in November 1612, and more generally the end of the Time of Troubles and the Polish-Muscovite War (1605–1618).

The day’s name alludes to the idea that all classes of Russian society united to preserve Russian state-hood when there was nei-ther a tsar nor a patriarch to guide them. In 1613 tsar Mikhail Romanov institut-ed a holiday named Day of Moscow’s Liberation from Polish Invaders. It was cel-ebrated in the Russian Em-pire until 1917, when it was replaced with a commemo-ration of the Russian Revo-lution.

Unity Day was reinstitut-ed by the Russian Feder-ation in 2005, since when the year 1612 has been celebrated instead of 1917 every November 4. The day is also the feast day of the Russian Ortho-dox icon of Our Lady of Ka-zan.

-------------------------------The main Idea is the calls for tolerance between var-ious ethnic and religious groups.

Russians may celebrate Unity Day in many ways. some may lay flowers to the monuments of national heroes, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky.

Russian Orthodox Chris-tians may attend a church service to honor Our Lady of Kazan, one of the most important Russian Ortho-dox icons. November 4 is this icon’s feast day.

And for some people it’s just an other other day-off in the week, as the celebra-tion is new and it didn’t get any special rituals or sto-ries for the moment.

Natalia Nesterova “Memories of the past sum-mer” Exhibition «Memories of the past summer» is timed to the 70th anniversary of Na-talia Nesterova.

End of September - the first time for memories about summer, warm sun and a carefree life. At first glance, it might seem that the work presented in the space UVS Art Gallery, tell only about the fun and carefree summer life, but for the simple story lies a deeper meaning. Artist sad and realizes transience of time, its impotence to stop and hold a moment of the leaving summer and the life in general.

Partake of delicacies at the tables, sitting in a hammock or playing cards characters - are representatives of eter-nity.

The artist had caught them in the act and stopped this moment forever. The lack of immediacy - one of the most important fea-tures of the ancestral art of Natalia Nesterova.

The artist’s work on a large scale, originality. It has no national features, cosmopolitan - which is why so important in different parts of the world. Her characters - people of the world, they are universal.

Nesterova bright expressive pictorial language that is easily recognizable.

Artist creates intricate color-ful surface, where the dense layers of painting sometimes turn into relief beyond the scope of work, living their separate lives. Thanks to this technique, the image of some objects “come alive” on the canvas.

Natalya Nesterova, (1944 - )

Natalya Nesterova was born into a family of art-ists: her parents were both architects and her grand-father, who lived with the family during her childhood, was a Russian Avant-Garde painter and art instructor. Encouraged from an early age to pursue her creative interests, she attended the Moscow Secondary Art School as a teenager and, later, the Moscow Surikov Art Institute, where she re-ceived classical training in composition, still life, and figure painting.

Shortly after graduating from the Institute, Nestero-va became a member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR, an organization of profes-sional visual artists who were approved and sup-ported by the Soviet state. Although she enjoyed the benefits of her “official” status – a guaranteed job,

refusing to discuss their psychological and met-aphysical subtexts.

Although Nesterova came to prominence in the art world as a mark-edly Soviet artist, her themes have proved autonomous and dura-ble, and today, in the post-Soviet era, she is recognized simply as one of the most impor-tant contemporary Rus-sian artists. She contin-ues to live and paint in Moscow.

free studio space, and the exposure of all-union exhibitions – she rejected the heroic and propagan-distic subject matter typi-cally endorsed by the Un-ion, preferring instead to paint the everyday lives of ordinary Russians.

Rendered in a heavily im-pastoed, neo-primitive style, her works conjure familiar scenes made mysterious through the use of psychological alle-gories. Figures engaged in such common activ-ities as lounging on a beach or strolling through a park are positioned and manipulated by the artist to suggest isolation and confinement. The result-ing image communicates impressions of social commentary, nostalgic fantasy, and emotional expression, yet eludes concrete analysis. Nes-terova has perpetuated the air of mystery that permeates her works by

Movement of time. Half a century of Russian Kineticism.“We will do together an art that cannot be done apart ...” From the Russian Kineti-cism Manifesto

in the early XX century. Then the artists first started think-ing about how to bring in the traditional static sculpture movement.

Kineticism final shape to the third quarter of the last cen-tury and the Soviet Union emerged as the creative as-sociation “Movement.” Rus-sian throw sought to merge various arts based, moreo-ver, on the latest technical developments.

Artists Vyacheslav Koley-chuk, Alexander Grigoriev, Sergey Zorin, Leo Nussberg not just developing a new direction in art, they wanted to create a different reality.

Kinetic art is art from any medium that contains move-ment perceivable by the viewer or depends on motion for its effect. Canvas paintings that extend the viewer’s perspective of the artwork and incorporate multidimen-sional movement are the earliest examples of kinetic art. More pertinently speaking, kinetic art is a term that to-day most often refers to three-dimensional sculptures and figures such as mobiles that move naturally or are machine operated. The moving parts are generally powered by wind, a motor or the observer. Kinetic art encompasses a wide variety of overlapping techniques and styles.
