was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden

lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a

son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with

1. CONTEXT - Laodicea‘To the angel of the church in

Laodicea write:Rev 3:14

• Abundant wealth – financial centre• Textiles – finest black wool• Medical industry – eye salve (cure most eye problems)

2. CONDITIONYou say, “I am rich; I have acquired

wealth and do not need a thing.” But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. Rev 3:17

Compartmentalised their lives

3. COUNSEL18 I counsel you to buy from me gold

refined in the fire, so that you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so that you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so that you can see. Rev 3:18

• Jesus can sort them out.7

• Why ‘buy’?

“Come, all you who are thirsty,come to the waters;and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

Isa 55:1 (see verse 2 & 3)

4. CHOICE15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Rev 3:15-16
