Welcome to Education Week! Education Week is all about acknowledging and
celebrating the richness and diversity of our school – our students, our staff and our
community. This year the theme for Education Week is a celebration of student
empowerment and how we as a school build and develop the skills our students
need in order to have and express a voice during their educational journey and as an
engaged global citizen. Having a voice opens up a conversation for clarity, enquiry
and also explores possibility. We look forward to our events this week to allow for
connections, collaborations and celebrations.
We are currently taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2020. Please contact our office
for further information and to commence the process. Please do not hesitate to pass
this information onto families who will have children starting school next year.
I would like to wish our students all the best this week in their various opportunities
to represent our school at the Choral Festival and also the Broken Hill Athletics
carnival. If the past is anything to go by, then we can feel very confident that our
students will do themselves, their families and our school proud.
Have a wonderful week of learning!

see.” – John F Kennedy

6M In 6M we are travelling the world and learning about various countries
culture and landmarks as part of our geography unit. The race began in
Sydney last term and the first destination was Japan. We have been
visiting the hot beaches of the Greek Islands to the cold mountain air of
Russia.
We arrange our flights to a city of our choice in each country. We then
decide on a place of interest to visit and record important facts. We are
required to purchase a souvenir from each country and keep a travel blog.
We have been issued a passport that we must get stamped before we can
travel to the next country. If we lose our passport we have to re-apply for
it by visiting the Australian embassy in the country we are in. So far only
one passport has been lost!
Along the way we are given road blocks to complete.
We are learning lost of interesting things and are very keen to see who is
the winner of the race.
Countries to visit include: Japan
Russia Italy
Greece Austria USA
Australia

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Mrs Sonia Evitts
What is your role at MSPS? My role at MSPS is to support students in our school (School Learning Support Officer) This year I have been assisting Mrs Nicholls in KN. How long have you worked at MSPS? This is my fifth year at Morgan Street. What’s your favourite thing about working at MSPS? My favourite thing about working at Morgan Street is watching the students development in their own individual ways and putting a smile on their little faces. What is something about you that not many people know? I love anything to do with water! What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this? A lifeguard on a beautiful beach. What food is like a guilty pleasure to you? Chocolate
This week kindergarten classes celebrated being at school for 100 days!
We dressed up like we were 100 years
old! We also did some really fun
activities to do with the number 100. We wrote about all of the things that we
have learned to do since beginning
kindergarten.
We thought of ways that we could spend
$100 if we were lucky enough to have
that much money!
We counted all the way up to 100—do
you know how long it takes to count
that high!
Our teachers turned into grandmas! We
spent the day with Nanny Nicholls and
Grandma Halpin! It was such a fun day!
Now we are ready to learn for another
100
days!
