    AND COMMISSION OPENINGS

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Moreno Valley is now accepting applications forvarious City Council advisory boards and commissions. The appointees shall be bona fideresidents of the City of Moreno Valley at the time of appointment and throughout theirincumbencies and will serve without compensation for designated terms. In addition, theappointees shall attend at least one meeting prior to the appointment (This requirement doesnot apply to the Accessibility Appeals Board).

    SENIOR CITIZENS BOARD

    2 terms June 30, 20141 term June 30, 2015

    The Accessibility Appeals Board shall conduct hearings on written appeals regarding Title 24accessibility issues brought by any person aggrieved by enforcement action taken by the BuildingDivision of the Community Development Department of the City of Moreno Valley, and renderdecisions regarding accessibility hardship cases as prescribed by the States Title 24 AccessibilityRegulations. Hearings shall be held within 30 days of receipt of an appeal.

    The Arts Commission considers matters pertaining to the planning for the arts in the Cityfacilitating interaction among artists; promoting arts activities and education; recognizingachievement in arts; providing a mechanism for public participation in the arts; advising the CityCouncil on the involvement of arts in economic development; supporting and assisting existingorganizations involved in arts and/or culture in the City; reinforcing the Citys identity and civic pridethrough arts and culture; recognizing the importance of arts to the Citys quality of life; researchinggrants for arts and culture and making recommendations for the City Council; encouraging serviceorganizations and/or other governmental agencies to propose, finance, and give public arts projectsto the City; reviewing and considering proposed gifts as to their artistic quality, authenticity,appropriate site, and maintenance and installation costs; and research and provide reports andrecommendations of possible sources of funding, in addition to public funds for potential City publicart projects. Meetings are scheduled on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.Conference and Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick Street.

    The Library Commission considers all matters pertaining to the administration, operation

    development, improvement and maintenance of library services within the City of Moreno Valley.

    Meetings are scheduled on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Meeting location: MorenoValley Public Library, 25480 Alessandro Blvd.

    The Senior Citizens Board considers matters pertaining to senior citizens, senior citizensprograms, including policies for the Moreno Valley Senior Community Center. Meetings arescheduled on the third Monday of each month at 3 p.m., Senior Community Center, 25075 Fir Ave.

    The City Council encourages residents to apply for these positions. Applications are

    available at the City Clerk's Department, located at 14177 Frederick St., Moreno ValleyCalifornia, during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday)For further information, please call 951.413.3001.
