Ill Sirs, Divan, Nobles All,

Terry and I are humbled and proud to be elected to the office of Potentate and First Lady of Moolah for the year 2020. Your faith and support are much appreciated. I want to thank everyone for all of the prayers and support received during my three years of struggle with renal failure. It was exhausting and I would not have made it without your help. I am happy to report that the doctors are very pleased and beyond a regiment of anti-rejection medications, I may resume a full, active, healthy life.

My motto for this year is “Transfiguratus Vitas Traditio” Latin for “Tradition Changing Lives.” I want all to remember why we became a Shriner and honor the 131 years of tradition. To commemorate the pin design is based on a logo discovered on a 1907 petition for membership. The two bears signify strength, courage, ferocity, and of course, the bears also refer back to the great state of Missouri.

As many of you know, the Shriners Hospital for Children has been a blessing to my family. Imagen a young couple just starting out having four children most all 18 months apart, a stay at home mother and diesel mechanic as head of household? Providing for six wasn’t hard enough; the oldest and baby of the family were born with severe musculoskeletal disorders. Both required years of surgery, including open spinal surgery, and years of back and leg braces. Shriners Hospital for Children provided care for both of them for decades. I wanted to share this with you to let you know my history and why I became a Shriner.

The entire Divan is looking forward to all the unit presentations and travels to our clubs for installations. The first bus trip of 2020 is to Hannibal, MO, to install the new officers at Nemo Shrine on January 4th. The following will be YOMO on January 11th and Three Rivers overnight bus trip on January 18th. We have rooms blocked a the Drury Inn located in Poplar Bluff, MO, under the name of Moolah. Be sure to make your reservations soon.

The Potentate’s Ball is February 22nd and will be a black-tie event. The band All Mixed Up will be playing. The band plays an excellent mix of music that includes three pieces of brass. First Lady Terry and I hope you will join us for a night of fun, music, and dancing. The band will play for four hours from 8 PM to midnight. To accommodate the schedule, we will have social hour starting at 5 PM, a sit-down dinner at 6 PM and ceremonies at 7 PM. We are looking forward to seeing you all.

Circus preparations are well underway. Circus Chairman/Chief Rabban Joe Shively, Circus Director Ron Reynolds, and commit-tee are planning another successful circus for 2020. Remember, the Circus is a Temple Callout; everyone, please come out, help and have fun. There are many things to do before, during, and after the Circus. This is our biggest fundraiser and it takes a lot of people to pull it off. The Shrine Clubs may help too. We have committees that need help during the Circus. Come for one or two shows or whenever you have time. If you can help, please contact Circus Director, Ron Reynolds. We will also have the Sportsman Raffle this year. This event has been a success and is growing each year. It is also an event that every unit, club, and committee can get involved. Please participate and help sell tickets. Be sure to tell everyone about the drawing party.

After the great success of Feztival of Trees in 2019, we will be having another during Thanksgiving week of 2020. This is a big event and will require many to help out. As with the Circus, this will be a temple callout. We will be putting a committee togeth-er to plan this event. Please contact the office if you are interested. The ballroom remodel gets raves and compliments by all. The Divan and entire temple would like to thank all who donated, worked, and help raise the capital for the updates. What a perfect example of what an organization like ours can accomplish on these types of projects. Terry and I are thankful and looking forward to working with all to show how fabulous Moolah can be. We wish you all bless-ings, looking forward to having another fun-filled successful year.

Fraternally,

Ill Sir Russell Georgen

These we do not forget “Es Selamu Aleikum”

We do not lose the ones we love they only go before,

Where there is everlasting life. Where sorrow is no more. And there the soul will always live

and peace is everywhere. We do not lose the ones we love, God

takes them in his care.

There are two kinds of people: those that wake up and say, “Good morning, Lord!” and those that wake up and say, “Good Lord—it’s morning!”

We tend to feel the way we expect to feel. We see what we expect to see. We hear what we expect to hear. We act the way we expect to act. We set ourselves up for failure or success—for fulfillment or frustration—depending on our level of faith.

Living by faith means expecting the best.

Matthew 9:29 says, “According to your faith let it be done to you”

Faith is positive expectation. You expect God to answer. You expect the solution to come through. You expect things to work out. You expect to succeed. You expect it all to fall into place. Expecta-tions are faith.

As Christians, we don’t believe that everything in life will turn out well, no matter how much faith we have. That’s just not a reality in a world full of sin. But we can be confident that God is working for our good. We can trust him with our future because he knows better than we do what is best for us—and he will help us become more like him.

Living by faith does not mean you wear rose-colored glasses. It means you trust that God is always working, so you can expect things to work out just as he intends them to. That can give you great confidence. That truth can build your faith.

To become a godly optimist, expect God to work in your life and in the world. Expect him to keep his promises. Expect that he wants to accomplish his will through you. And expect him to provide everything you need to do that.

The 2020 Moolah Shrine Circus will be held March 19th through March 22nd. We are again working with the Billy Martin Circus to secure the best acts possible.

We will have our Circus parade in Old Town St. Charles on Saturday, March 7th at 11 AM, followed by the Circus Kickoff at Moolah. We will participate in the St. Patrick Day parade to get exposure for our circus. All Shriners are asked to join in the fun for all these events.

Circus Ad Packets have been given out to all the units. Please contact your sponsors from last year to get renewal ads. All other Circus information and ad forms are available on the Moolah Website. The earlier you get to the sponsors, the more time they will have to get funds budgeted for our circus. The time to get ads is NOW!

2020 Circus bumper stickers, Circus tickets, Child coupons and circus pins are available. Let’s get out there and sell ! ! !

The Circus Committee has started meeting to prepare for this great event. Any and all volunteers are welcome to join us. There is always plenty to do. Arrive at 5:30 PM for a light dinner and the meeting begins at 6:00 PM. Please RSVP so we know how much food to prepare. 314-732-2121 or [email protected]. Our goal is to continue to make our circus the best ever, and to keep the seats full.

January, as the first month of the year, is the perfect time to start all over again.

The rush of Christmas is over. We attended a variety of parties and special events. We spent time buying gifts and opening of gifts. We ate more than we should have but everything was so good. We spent time with family and friends. We watched many sporting events especially football. Maybe your team won. Now comes the time to focus on other interests. Walking more, making heathy life choices or taking up a new hobby. Those New Year promises more commonly called resolutions need to be continued. One resolution that is easy to keep is to be more active at Moolah. There are many activities we can participate in to make a difference. Select one and follow through.

Illustrious Sir Don Taylor gave us a great year. There was the Potentates’ Ball, several bus trips and three Ceremonials. As Cardinal fans, Nobles had a good time at the game and even though we lost the pinewood derby at Ainad, we all had fun. His motto “Together We Are One” was very appropriate throughout the year. We saw the motto in operation at the Circus with everyone working together to make it a success. At the Feztival of Trees, the Units and Clubs came together to make Lady Diane’s fundraiser a resounding success. We also will not soon forget the New Year Eve’s Party. A “big thank you “to Sir Don Taylor for making 2019 so awesome.

Illustrious Sir Russell Georgen has a great year planned for Moolah. If you have not been on a bus trip recently, schedule one by calling the office. There is the Nemo trip on January 4th and Three Rivers on the 18”’ and the Tiger Shrine Club on February 8”’. Write down February 22nd for the Potentate’s Ball which is always a highlight of the year. Motown is scheduled for February 15th which brings back all kinds of memories for many. Of course, we have our circus from March 19th to the 22th. There will be Ceremonials. It is not too early to talk with fellow Masons about becoming Shriners. The Mother’s Day brunch is always a hit as well as the June Cardinal game. There will be

another Pinewood Derby with Ainad Temple. In the fall, Hospital Awareness day will need workers, as well as Trunk or Treat. Feztival of Trees will become an annual event, and December will have the Holiday Ball. There are many activities and times to be active. Select carefully. Have Fun.

Our next luncheon will be on January 10th in the Oasis. The Cost is still $15. If you have not attended a luncheon recently, mark this date on your calendar. Happy Birthday to all Ambassa-dors celebrating birthdays this Month. Two fine Ambassadors recently passed. They were Robert A. Morgan and Randall Stevens. Prayers and condolences go out to their families. Once an Ambassador, Always an Ambassador.

We pledge to recruit bases, baritones, tenors, even monotones who like to sing. If they don’t think they can, let us be the judge. We can train them to blend. 2. We plan to socialize with other units. 3. We will busy ourselves in hopes that we can load our schedules with increased amounts of Sing Outs! If you know of any, just let us know. There’s always room! 4. We will do everything we can to plan and assist in all preparation of social gatherings so that the few don’t have to do it all. 5. We plan to entertain and help where needed at OUR Shrine Hospital. 6. And we plan to do whatever we can to advance the cause of fellowship in The Shrine.

We know these goals have been ongoing and we promise to continue that effort at their strengthening!

Our schedule for December has past, was almost as full as we can handle, but it is never that busy that another task can be squeezed in . SO, BRING THEM ON! If you were abundantly gifted last Christmas and 2020 opened with good health for family and friends you are truly blessed. It is our wish that all good things and all fruitful experiences are in yours and the worlds’ future. If you’re one of those so fortunate, carry it forward!

Having exhausted our arsenal of platitudes and encouragements , it is our wish that good health follows you wherever you go.

Please be careful. It sometime gets slippery out there! Be informed as to the weather and road conditions before you leave home.

God bless and good health to you and yours.

The Smokin' Nobles again this year cooked and served the food for the Moolah Patient Christ-mas Party held in the Ballroom of the Temple on Sunday, December 15th. We prepared and served 800 hamburgers and 1,000 hot dogs to the Hospital patients, their families, guests, and Shriners in attendance!

We will also BBQ for the workers at the Shrine Circus on Thursday night, March 19, 2020.

The Smokin' Nobles will participate in the Buick Collectors Club Car Show in Chesterfield on Saturday, September 12th, 2020. The Smokin' Nobles will cook, serve and sell burgers, hot dogs, chicken-on-a-stick, chips, drinks and des-serts. A second major planned BBQ fundraiser for 2020 will be the Wing Cook-Off Competition, won last time by the Clown Unit.

In honor of Veteran's Day, the Smokin' Nobles prepared and served pork steaks, chicken breasts, cole slaw, potato salad, drinks, and individually wrapped desserts to veterans and hospital staff at Jefferson Barracks on Saturday, November 9, 2019 . These BBQs at Jefferson Barracks are twice annual Spring and Fall events held in conjunction with the American Muscle Unit, Bonhomme Lodge, and St. Louis Lodge #1

First, a big “Thank You” to our outgoing Presi-dent, Tom Shumate, and Vice President, Keith Schilb. We had a great, fun year with you at the helm. Second, a big “Congratulations” to our newly elected President, Rob Fowler and our newly elected Vice President, Doug Payer. We look forward to another great year in 2020 under your leadership. Rob also deserves a huge “Thank You” for his exceptional efforts in acquiring donations for the Unit's 2019 Feztivus Pole. Rob single-handedly solicited items valued at over $2,000! That, combined with the other donations by other Unit members, brought the value of our 2019 booth to over $3,000!

The American Muscle and the Smokin' Nobles Units held their annual Veteran's Day VA BBQ at the Jefferson Barracks on Saturday, November 9. We served pork steaks, chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, drinks, and desserts to all the veterans and hospital staff. We were supported again this year by both Bonhomme and St. Louis #1 Lodges.

The American Muscle paraded as part of the “Santa's Holiday Avenue Parade” in Granite City on Saturday, November 23rd. Our Muscle Cars were also on display entertaining the crowd as we participated in the St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade where we proudly represented the Moolah Shrine.

A Whiskey Keg and Special Bicentennial Edition Bourbon (estimated value of $700) Raffle is being conducted by the American Muscle Unit. The raffle tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5, or an arm's length for $20. Tickets are available from any Unit member or at any Stated Meeting. The drawing will likely be after the February Stated Meeting.

The new officers for 2020 were elected at the November 6th Business Meeting. They are President John Verhaeg, Vice President Tom Shu-mate, Treasurer Tom Nelson, and Secretary Jim Gesell. Congratulations to the new officers, and a big “Thank You” to our outgoing President of many years, Keith Schilb. Keith has been a key force behind both the growth of the American Muscle Unit and the acquisition of our Unit Room.

What a great December. Lots of events which means lots of fun for all. The patient party was great with a few clowns getting on TV that night. Thanks to Slapshot (Steve Leassner) and his lady Sarah, for an awesome Clown Kids Christmas Party. Lots of food and lots of kids, who could ask for a better time. Congrats to all of our new of-ficers and we all are looking to have another great year for our Unit. Can't wait for dinner. Later this month we'll be hosting our 5th annu-al Trivia Nite on January 25th. SOLD OUT!!! Hopefully you all have a lot of friends coming and deposited all your donations for door prizes and basket items for our ladies to organize. Here's a big THANKS for all the preparation work you all have already put towards our fundraiser. Also thanks to all the workers who helped out that night. Hope you all have a great time.

Its about time to start practicing for the skits. We will meet every Monday until the skit director feels that we are Oscar ready. This probably means every Monday because he is a tough taskmaster. Not only do we have to get timing down on our new skit but we have to be able to move the props effienctly to and from the ring. Also if you do not have a part in the skits your presence on the ring is important to the act itself.

Future events coming up will include the R-V show and Home show which help to promote our circus. Get your circus tickets from Gonzo (Erie Gonza-lez-Rubio) our man in charge of sales. By the way thats another thankless job so thanks Gonzo for volunteering again. Ha Ha Ha!!!

Merlin (Tom Dolan) just finished co-starring in the movie Top Gun : Maverick starring Tom Cruise that will come out in June of 2020. Since as Maver-ick's co-pilot he couldn't use the name Merlin be-cause that was used in the last movie they had to choose another name. So after a lot of considera-tion they chose "Duffer" to be his call sign. What a downer. I got a list of 45 other names that would be better. But let's wish him the best.

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once!!!

GuiDeS Happy New Year to all the Nobles and Ladies of the Guides Unit

I hope you all had a great and healthy holiday. As this new year begins, there will be much to do again. We will have new officers on the divan as well as our own unit. The Potentates Ball will be upon us before we know it and the circus kickoff party/parade always keeps the guides busy.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for all the support as well as participation that our unit gets involved in. Some of our tasks come as requests from the Potentate but others come from within the unit. You all continue to make the guides a unit we can always be proud of. Whether you are cooking, serving, tending bar or helping to decorate for events, the nobles and ladies of the guides always come through. I send out a special shout of gratitude to all members of the bingo committee who work tirelessly week after week throughout the year working to raise monies for donations to many good causes and our hospital. I give a tip of the Fez to our Director Wayne Price for keeping us focused and informed while actively directing our Thursday bingo as the chairman.

As my year as president of the unit ends, I want to congratulate Kyle Eckhardt as our next president and wish him all the best for 2020. I know the no-bles and ladies of the guides will be there for him and his lady Ashley just as you always are.

Our bingo on Thursdays is doing well but we can always use more guides to help. If you feel you have some time to help out please contact Wayne Price to join the bingo committee and we will utilize your skill.

Thank you Nobles and Ladies for a wonderful year and all your support and service throughout my term. My Lady Sandy and I thank you for all your prayers and helping us to have a wonderful year!!

We made a good show-ing at Central States and our beautiful Lady Michelle Dawson won Third Place at the first ever “Diva Derby”. And we collected more A & J dollars than any year before.

Noble Lodge’s Regular communications scheduled in January will be held on Tuesday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 21st and in February they will be held on Feb 4th and Feb. 18. Light dinner begins at 6:00 pm with our gavel falling at 7:00pm. All Nobles of the Shrine are invited to attend. We tentatively plan to do EA degree(s) on the second Communication of every month.

Noble Lodge and the Masonic Home of Missouri had a very successful Veterans program on No-vember 20th at the Moolah Shrine open meeting with over 120 Veterans receiving a masonic flag, pin and a certificate.

Noble Lodge conducted a MOCHIP event at the Moolah Shrine on December 14th as part of the “Lunch with Santa”. We had 20 needy families from the Pattonville School District which included roughly 60 young children.

Happy New Year!

Wow! I cannot believe how fast time flies. I only have 3 meetings left over which to preside. We are still looking for members. If you would like to join an organization of ladies who work hard for the Children of Shriners’ Hospitals please ask one of us for a petition.

Our next McAllister’s night will be Wednesday, January 29, 2020! Come join us at the McAllister’s on Ross Road in the Dierbergs plaza from 5-8. At our previous McAlister’s Night, we sat and talked, laughed and enjoyed the fellowship of our sisters and brothers! Please come join us!

Wishing you all the many blessings of the New Year including good health, and peace on earth.

Hoping to see you soon!Phantom Hugs,Lady Marcia Jacobi, High Priestess

Each family was given a $50 gift certificate to Schnucks Market and the kids received various pieces of winter clothing ( gloves, wraps, socks, etc) as well as a varitiy of toys. Many of the fam-ilies took part in the MOChip event and left with their childrens information on a thumb drive that could be provided to the local police should a child or grand child ever be missing. We want to thank all the brothers and others who gave of their time to man the stations for this important event.

Noble Lodge #684 and St. Louis Missouri Lodge #1 co-hosted a C2A class on December 21st at the Rose Temple. We expected close to 30 participants to be raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason and hopefully some became Shriners at the December 30th ceremonial. And again, we want to thank all those master masons who participated.

Noble will be offering voluntary proficiency training on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 7 PM in the outer room of the Lodge.

Please note - Petitions for Degrees must be signed by two sponsors, one of which must be a member in good standing of the Lodge the petition is presented to. The other signer can be a Master Mason in good standing of any Lodge. Noble Lodge candi-date’s petitions will be read before the lodge at the next Regular Communication and the candidate will be informed of the subsequent steps necessary.

Noble Lodge has a book rack outside the Lodge Room. It has various books and publications about Masonry. Feel free to borrow any thing you’d like to read, or if you have some books you’d like donate, please do so.

To get the most up-to-date information on what’s happening at Noble Lodge, check out our website at http://www.noble684.com.If you have any questions, contact the Master or Secretary from the information listed above.
