TODAY’S MEETING President-Elect Maureen Murphy led today’s meeting and welcomed everyone. President Wiley Cutts was attending a workshop in Prattville today. Rhonda Cope led club members in prayer and Wanda Robinson led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. We were delighted to have Jess Hawthorne visiting the club today. He updated club members on his travels and sale of his house in Montgomery. He plans to travel to Germany to visit relatives in Wiesbaden in the near future. Mike Murphy also visited the club, and was celebrating his 72 nd birthday. Maureen announced that The Montgomery Advertiser and The Montgomery Independent both featured a story and picture of Madeline Pendley, the Montgomery Exchange Club Youth of the Year and the ADEC Youth of the Year winner. Our speaker today was Larry Newton, 2009 Huntingdon Political Science major and former Scheduler/Operations Manager for the Kay Ivey Campaign in 2010 and Operations Manager for the current Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries for the state of Alabama. Larry served as 2009 National Vice- Chief of the Order of the Arrow, and is very active in local, state, and national Boy Scouts of America programs and troops. Larry spoke of the history of the positive economic impacts on the state of Alabama, including the location of the Mercedes, Hyundai, and Airbus factories in the state and commented on how agribusiness remains the number one industry in the state. He gave an excellent review of the current economic status of industry/agribusiness in Alabama, with suggestions for improvement via individual service through organizations such as Exchange Club. Thank you, Larry, for an informative and positive talk! TODAY’S MEETING President-Elect Maureen Murphy led today’s meeting and welcomed

Chandler, AZ July 11-14, 2012

Tommy Holliman and Maureen Murphy, along with 4 Collegiate Exchange Club of

Huntingdon students represented Montgomery Exchange at the national

convention in July in Chandler, AZ. Three seminars on Collegiate Exchange Club

building were presented by the Collegiate Club at national.
