The vote was 4:1 during closed session. Board member Hector Chacon was the one dissenting vote. Accord- ing to an article in the Whittier Daily News, MUSD said in a state- ment that the board fired Contreras Smith and Pell over a difference of opinionon how to best run the district. Volunteers throughout California per- suaded voters to continue the financial commitment to public school students. Proposition 55 was voted into law last Tuesday with a 66% approval. Those who volunteered at the MTA are listed on the back of this Contact. Revenue & Expense and LCAP Open Hearing Is November 29 Revenue and Expense Committee Chairperson Ryan Rice (ATC) will conduct an Open Hearing Tuesday, November 29 at 3:30 p.m. The hearing will take place during the Council meeting at the Montebello Teachers Association Conference Cen- ter. The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), asbestos abatement issues, and procurement will be discussed at Council. All are welcome to join in. SESCC Retirement Breakfast Planned for Saturday, February 4 Save the date: The CTA Southeastern Service Center will sponsor a Retirement Workshop Satur- day, February 4 at the Holiday Inn Select in La Mirada. A STRS Counselor will review the retire- ment process. Reservations are required. More information will be available regarding the work- shop and RSVPs will be available after Winter Break. Retirement Health Benefits Workshop is March 28 Join us Tuesday, March 28 at the MTA CC to learn about your health benefits in retirement. Spouses are welcome.
