Graduate Assistantships Graduate assistantships are available on a competitive basis. Assistantships cover fees (tuition) and provide a monetary stipend that may be applied toward living expenses. Recipients are expected to provide 20 hours of assistance each week. In addition to the graduate assistantships awarded by the Donald L. Harrison College of Business, there are assistantship opportunities in oces across the University. MBA students are successful in being selected for these.

In the new presentation lab, students create PowerPoint slides and other visual media and videotape their rehearsals—practicing for perfection—before presenting to the class or prospective employer. Southeast’s business program is AACSB-accredited, which is considered the gold standard of business school accreditation. It is an honor held by only

5 percent of institutions oering business degrees worldwide.

Southeast’s MBA Program The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program oered by the Donald L. Harrison College of Business is accredited by AACSB International. AACSB is recognized worldwide as the leading accrediting body of graduate programs in business. The 33 credit hour MBA program is built upon a common core of 24 credit hours of graduate study, including course work in managing and leadership, quantitative and qualitative research methods, decision information systems, strategic decision making, marketing, cost management, and the nancial environment. Instruction takes place in small class settings that allow for signicant faculty-student interaction and close attention to student success. Students may select one of several options for study composed of nine credit hours beyond the common core. Current options include accounting, entrepreneurship, environmental management, nancial management, general management, health administration, international business, industrial management and sport management. Currently students can opt to complete their degree online if they select the general management option of the MBA program. Each option develops the knowledge base, management skills and personal attributes that allow you to advance professionally and provide executive leadership to your organization. The program accommodates students who recently completed undergraduate studies in business, as well as individuals who hold responsible management positions. Students eligible for admission to the MBA program must score at least 1,000 using a formula that includes the undergraduate GPA and the score on the GMAT examination. Students who meet the admission score and who have completed the necessary foundation course work in business as part of their undergraduate studies are eligible for full admission to the MBA program. Foundation course work covers principles of accounting, economics, nance, management, marketing, management information systems, statistics and quantitative techniques. Students meeting the admission score, but without the foundation course work, are eligible for provisional admission to the MBA program. Reference the MBA program website at www.semo.edu/mba for the most current information. MBA students have the opportunity to earn a dual MBA/Master of Arts in International Business through an agreement with the UAS, Schmalkalden, Germany. There are also opportunities to participate in study-abroad and exchange programs, both short-term and semester long.

Accreditation All of our programs, including the MBA, hold the prestigious accreditation of the AACSB, an honor held by only 5 percent of colleges in the country. In addition, Southeast Missouri State University is fully accredited by the North Central Association. University accreditation insures a strong instructional environment for the MBA program.
