Homophones!
• What is a homophone?• They are words which sound the same but are spelt
differently.• Pick one of homophone images that you find tricky.• Practice writing the homophones such as sea, see in
your pink books• Create a sentence around it. Remember your non-
negotiables- check them on the next page. • For example, I can see a dog and it is running by the
sea.• Repeat with other homophones (or as many as you
can).
When writing your sentences….Apply your homophones to sentences in your writing. Underline your
homophone when you include it.

Dictate the following sentences to your child and ask them to write them in their pink books:
I know I have knobbly knees.The gnat gnawed at the meat rather than use a knife and fork.I got a knot in my knitting and know that I will have to start again.
• Write the correct sentences up on the board and get pupils to check their writing with a spelling
partner/family member.
• Discuss any common errors and correct then.
• Add then to your wizard word sheet if unsure with spelling.
When writing your sentences….Apply the words you have just learnt in a paragraph. Include words which
use ‘kn’ and ‘gn’ at the beginning of words.
