We will do all we can to support efforts to get necessary water and aid to those islands devastated by the CAT 5 Hurricane Irma. We are particularly thinking of our everyone in Sint Maarten where infrastructure and daily life has been severely disrupted.

NEWS ABOUT UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS

ACREW wants to support the inhabitants of Sint Maarten and therefore dedicates its upcoming events in Astilleros de Mallorca and Compositeworks to raising funds.

We will donate 5 euro for every Crew Member that attends one of those events and we ask our partners, sponsors and supporters to donate as well. Together with our destination partner Yacht Club Port de Plaisance we will select a project that could most benefit from the funds raised. We are appealing to the generosity of the ACREW family to help rebuild Sint Maarten.

Through applying ergonomics, working onboard

can be made more efficient and significantly

safer. In an interactive discussion Aweigh Fitness

will look at the biggest hazards that crew face

daily and how the majority of these hazards can

easily be avoided. Attendees will understand

how to reduce back strains, improve posture

and reduce the effects of being on your feet

all day! This understanding helps to improve

general body condition but most importantly it

keeps crew safer and reduces the likelihood of

injuries.

“Created by yacht crew tired of the inefficiency

of endless spreadsheets and emails, Pinpoint

Works uses new technology to manage works

onboard. Using web and mobile apps, users

populate their worklists using a location pin on

the yacht’s unique GA (general arrangement).

The worklist can be shared with other users,

such as crew, management, contractors, and

shipyards, to track works in real-time. Currently

it’s used on yachts ranging from 20 to 140

meters for new builds, refits, warranty periods

and day-to-day maintenance.

The Pinpoint Works team will be giving demos

and signing up new clients for a 30-day free trial

during MYS. Stop by to see the app live and

The problem of bullying and harassment is

addressed in this presentation from maritime

professional trade union Nautilus International.

Their extensive research across the maritime

industry has led to the creation of training

materials as well as them representing some of

their members in legal action. As in all industries,

the problems stem from the culture onboard

and the fear of speaking out due to worries

about dismissal. The workshop is for leaders

onboard and all crew that are interested in

improving standards in the industry for all.
