The F1 Grand Prix The Formula 1 Grand Prix is held at the Monte Carlo circuit every year and it is a major tourist attraction of Monaco.The Monaco Grand Prix is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. It is the course that is most distinct from the sport that it was made for. Precision driving, technical excellence and sheer bravery is required to win in Monte Carlo. The course is very difficult with 19 turns. It is a total distance of 260.286 kilometres. The first Grand Prix in Monaco was in 1950.
Festivals
Major festivals and events are held in Monaco annually. Some examples are, The international Monte-Carlo circus festival, The Sporting summer festival, The Monaco Yacht show and the F1 Grand Prix. The international Monte-Carlo circus festival The International Monte-Carlo circus festival was created in 1974 by Prince Rainier III. Held every January, it is now the biggest and most prestigious event in the world. the greatest circus artists perform at the festival every year having the chance to win the most prestigious award in the industry, “The Golden Clown”.
The Monte-Carlo Sporting summer festival The Sporting summer festival was founded in 1974. It is held in July and August annually. It invites talented artists from around the globe, giving exceptional performances. Some artists that performed this year included Lady Gaga, George Ezra, The Sting, Enrique Iglesias, Pixie Lott, and many more. The festival starts in early July and ends in late August. Monaco along with the Vatican and Lichtenstein is one of the only monarchs that plays an active role in day to day politics. Prince Albert represents Monaco in all foreign relations and any revision of the Constitution, it must be jointly agreed to by the Prince and the national council of Monaco. The Economy of Monaco The main income of Monaco is tourism. It is a developed and experienced economy. In 2009 Monaco had turned over 13.2 billion Euro because of 5,050 companies and more than 44,265 jobs in the private sector. Monaco has unexpectedly a lot of industries with many high end companies setting up in high rise buildings. Due to its geographic location, Monaco is a dream destination for leisure and business tourism. Tourism represents 11% of the total economic activity, with a major attraction, the Casino de Monte Carlo where the famous James Bond movie “Casino Royale” was filmed in 2005 - 2006.

The cuisine in Monaco is influenced mostly by seafood. There are many high end restaurants in the streets of Monaco with both a French and Italian influence in the original recipes of Monaco. The cuisine and eating habits are of mediterranean heritage. Breakfasts are very small but lunch and dinner may have several courses. Water Sports Monaco is located right on the sea, meaning that water sports are very popular in Monaco. from April until October watersports can be pursued on the beach. some watersports are Wind surfing, Kite surfing, wakeboarding, sailing and parasailing. With Monaco being located on the sea water sports is a big attraction of Monaco during the summer months. Another water activity is Scuba diving. Tennis Tennis is a very popular sport in Monaco. There is an ATP world Tour tennis tournament held at the Monte-Carlo country club. It is played on Clay courts. It is held in April every year. The current title holder is Novak Djokovic the number 1 seed in the world. The Monte Carlo tournament is the first of three tournaments played on clay. Tennis is a very popular local sport in Monaco.
Skiing Skiing surprisingly is a sport practised by the people of Monaco with the closest place to ski being only a 2 hour drive away from the French resorts of Peira Cava, Gréolières, La Colmiane, Valberg, Auron, or the Italian resorts of Limone or Monesi Saling With one of the most popular Yacht clubs in Europe, The Yacht Club de Monaco, sailing is a very popular sport as it is a year round sport done by professionals. The Yacht Club de Monaco also hosts the Monaco Yacht Show. Sailing and yachting are two very popular sports/activities. Many regattas are held in Monaco every year.
Football Monaco has its own division 1 team: AS Monaco FC. in 2014 they came 2nd only 9 points behind title winners PSG.
