MICE Shift (24/03/11) Shift went well, most systems tested.. Dry run for PPS in Hall:
Full walkthrough Hall under MICE control Need intercom and documentation Licensing 1st June
Full beamline/DAQ test BPM not able to be tested. HV misconfigured after EPICS tests.
Two CAEN SY127 crates and CAEN SY527 were meant to be daisychained together.
CAEN SY527 still out for repair CAEN SY127 crates now connected together (as instructed
by Pierrick)
VC-139: 14/04/11 3/8
Rack Room Henry removed MICE DAQ PCs from their rack (grid
data mover PC, micestore, miceacq* servers and DAQ KVM system).
Currently in R76. Old rack has been moved, new one installed. PCs will be moved back v. soon (today/tomorrow). Consequences:
No data taking until they’ve been reinstalled. KVM box has been removed, so machines connecting
through it need a local keyboard and monitor (miceraid1&2, micecss1, micepps2, targetctl1)
No backups of eLog, MICEmine (micestore removed) Cannot test BPM again until systems reinstalled.
VC-139: 14/04/11 4/8
Target in R78 (T2.6)
Ran successfully for 1.14M actuations Started getting stuck (theory: thermal
expansion of bearings) Target dismantled on 05/04/11 for inspection
(note: no dust seen) Target now back in R78 with (ever so) slightly
looser bearings as of 13/04/11 Target stopped daily between 11am to 12pm for a
more realistic test of its performance

Magnets & Hydrogen System
Beam magnets Water tank on roof had a leak in the trench (next to air
receiver) -- fixed by John Govans Q6 water still off until repaired (next week!)
Pressure H2 line (mbar) vs time (hrs)
P(mbar) = 0.7096 t(hrs)+ 9.0805

Hydrogen system Matt Hills is commissioning
the hydrogen system with the test cryostat.
Hydrogen line developed a leak, now located (theory: ice in the system?)
Fixing this is in hand (Mike Courthold/Matt Hills)

Future Work
Lots happening in the Hall Hydrogen system testing, new floor installation… Preparation for ISIS shutdown next week and
