Look at the Road to Emmaus through a catechetical lens Three main points: 1) The Word of God is the Content of Catechesis 2) The Word is living and active it has the power to bring about faith and cause conversion (Heb 4:12) 3) The Goal of catechetical activity in conjunction with liturgical activity is making the person new i.e. re-creation.

The Word is our food! And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD (Deut 8:3). But he answered, It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God' (Mt 4:4).
