Our Process - Curriculum Development & Revision

I. Planning

A. Convening a Curriculum Development/Revision Committee

• Select a grade level chair for each grade level • Teacher selection represents various schools, grade levels, feeder patterns, board member

districts, etc.

B. Identifying Key Issues and Trends in the Specific Content Area

• Consult individual/grade-level teacher feedback • Consult test results, grade distribution, CFAs, FALs, EQTs, Interims, etc.

C. Assessing Trend Data from Aspire, ACT, STAR, CFAs, etc.

II. Articulating and Developing

A. Articulating a K-12 Program Philosophy

• Inclusion of state Courses of Study • Research-based District Initiatives

B. Defining K-12 Program, Grade-Level and Course Goals

C. Developing and Sequencing of Grade-Level and Course Objectives

D. Identifying Resource Materials to Assist with Program Implementation

E. Developing and/or Identifying Assessment Items and Instruments to measure Student Progress

III. Implementing

A. Putting the New Program into Practice

• Team - administrators, department chairs, parents, lead-teachers, etc. • Focus on stake holder communication • Summer and quarterly Professional Development (grade-level, content area) • Content Supervisor leads PLCs

B. Putting the Curriculum Revision into Practice

• Content Supervisors conduct face-to-face department chair meeting, opening of school • Curriculum Supervisors conduct monthly Skype sessions • Department Chair leads PLCs within each school monthly
