The Link’s mission is to build a supportive community network that links youth and their families to their inner strength through life skills, education, advocacy, supportive housing, and a dynamic network of social services to transform lives. 2012 Annual Report building supportive communities with youth Mission The Link continued its tradition of growth and sound financial management. This year, The Link reorganized its programming into two divisions to better suppport its clients: Juvenile Justice (including Be@school), and Housing and Homeless Services. The Link continued its tradition of growth and sound financial management. The Link provides supportive housing, a place to call home, to more than 150 young people throughout the Twin Cities metro area. In 2012, 84% of participants increased skills to live independently, 76% maintained sobriety, and 80% secured stable sources of sufficient income. Our supportive housing programs provide access to safe, affordable housing and case management services in a caring, supportive context for young adults ages 16-24 who are homeless, including those who are disabled, pregnant or parenting. Be@school provides case management and academic support for students at risk of dropping out of school due to high absenteeism. The program worked with over 400 youth last year, most of whom are older and have had unsuccessful interventions in the past. The program helped 61% of youth improve school attendance, and enrolled 80% of un-enrolled youth in school, and helped 67% of clients’ parents engage in strategies to improve their child’s attendance, decreased high-risk behavior.
