Green Space Campaign – Kelly Park• Brighton Park is one of the most park-poor communities

in Chicago – We only have 10.6 acres of open space, a staggering 80% below the Chicago city standard

• Kelly Park had not been renovated in over 60 years

• We began our campaign to renovate the space in 2011

• Our campaign engaged over 2,000 community residents in rallies, meetings, protests, fundraisers, and festivals to promote and win this campaign!

• We raised almost $2,000,000 from private foundations, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, and local elected officials to renovate Park!

• We won a brand new turf field, a new walking track, a new state of the art play set, and a turf baseball diamond and field. We are still working to renovate a second baseball diamond and our basketball court.

Davis Health Center• Brighton Park is a federally-designated medically

underserved community: less than 1 doctor per 3,000 patients!

• After significant community-led research on health issues and concerns, we knew we had to develop more medical resources in our community.

• Formed a partnership with University of Illinois at Chicago in 2005 and began process of building support from Chicago Public Schools and local elected officials to build a new health center.

• After winning funding from the US Health Resources Services Administration and other private and public dollars, we were able to build first school-based health center in community.

• Davis Health and Wellness Center, located at Davis Elementary opened in 2013 and currently serves over 2,000 students, parents and community members.
