The Village Part of the 148-acre museum campus, the Village includes 26 structures and 10 heritage gardens representing a rural community during the era of 1890-1910. From May through August interpreters in Victorian clothing lead tours exploring the life and culture of the period. Summer Day Camp Summer adventures for youth start here at your history museum! Campers explore the mysteries of history in our one-of-a-kind Village. Private garden tours uncover the mysteries of 19th century garden design and the legacy of heirloom planting. * The Rockford Plate continues in its third year with a 1950s theme. Ethnic cuisine prepared and served by several cultures is a highlight each year. The fundraiser’s finale is music and a delicious dessert at the Main Street Celebration.

* The popular World War II Days continue as one of the largest reenactments in the Midwest. More than 60 authentic vehicles, artifacts, and tanks create an experience second to none.

Visitors also tour encampments, see skirmishes and large-scale battles, and hear lectures and musical performances.
