Courtney Bearer 2017 Miss Butler County’s Outstanding Teen What an incredible year it has been filled with so many fun times and amazing people that I had the opportunity to meet. At states I was lucky enough to win the non finalist talent, non finalist fitness award, along with the Teens in Training Scholarship where I went to Florida for the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant. This was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. I had the opportunity to see what goes on at the national pageant while learning from pageant experts. I have learned about myself and was able to expand my platform and network throughout my reign. My platform is called Be Someone’s Sunshine and it is all about impacting the lives of others around you through acts of kindness. Even though it seems like an everyday task you’d be surprised how easily it’s forgotten. That’s why I challenge you to make someone smile every day. I couldn’t have asked for a better year in this amazing organization.
There is no doubt in my mind that I have made a positive difference in my community and the lives of others, but that wouldn’t be possible without this organization. I would like to thank each and every person that was there for me along this wonderful journey, you truly have made a difference in my life and inspire me every day. Lucy, I can always count on you to love and support me no matter what. Jess and family, I couldn’t have done it without you and your advice and all the help you have given me. Flo and Judy your fashion advice, endless love, and constant hugs kept me going. Julia and Leann, You are amazing women who are going to do amazing things, you both inspire me and I had an awesome time spending the year with you. Mom and Dad you both have pushed me to be a better person and have worked with me to help me succeed and achieve my goals and I am incredibly grateful I love you so much! To all the girls, good luck, I wish I could have been there but I know the title will be in good hands. For the last time I am your Miss Butler County’s Outstanding Teen.
Julia Wilkins 2017 Miss Butler County
This year has been an incredible growth experience, opportunity and amazing memory for me to take through life. I am so incredibly grateful for the chance to represent the Miss Butler County Scholarship Pageant throughout this year. While my year comes to an end, I would like to reflect on some of the opportunities and thank those who have impacted me and made me a better person each day. This year, I promoted my platform encouraging civic engagement. I had amazing opportunities including working at civic engagement events within my community, participating in phone banks to provide voting information, helped register voters for elections and used social media to educate citizens on ways they can be involved in their community civically. I was able to volunteer as well with many organizations close to my heart and take part in community
events in the Butler County area. I loved sharing my platform and message of community engagement and involvement with people in a time where our country needs a positive message about the importance of being an advocate for democracy. I was also extremely proud to hold a ‘Music in the Park’ event and raise over $1,400 for the Children’s Miracle Network; this organization’s message and care for so many deserving children is so close to my heart. I am proud to have been a part of helping children in our community have access to the most advanced and effective medical care possible. There are so many people who made this year so wonderful – and put everything into making sure I went into Miss Pennsylvania as prepared and confident as possible. Jessica, Lucy, and Flo and Judy, you have been the best family I could have asked for this year; thank you so much for preparing me for everything, believing in me and doing everything in you power to make me Miss Pennsylvania ready. Jessica, thank you for being there with anything and everything; your family is SO wonderful and your love and support this year has made me feel so special! Judy Hughes has always had a special place in my heart for believing in me since day one. Thank you, Judy for helping me grow into my voice and confidence in this part of competition, and for always being an amazing support system and friend. I am so thankful for what you have done for me over the years and look forward to continuing this friendship for many years to come. To my sister queens, thank you so much for the memories!! To the Bearers, thank you for thinking of me as another member of your family; you are amazing people and I am so grateful for your friendship for life. Courtney – you amaze me every single day and I am so proud of you. Mom, Dad and Richie – This letter could be a novel, so simply thank you, for everything; I am a lucky girl. As I move to my new life as a law student, I thankfully look back on this experience as one that prepared me for my life today; the preparation, determination and passion and service this organization provides to women is invaluable and I am better off every day because of it. I look forward to watching my successor grow and experience a memorable year – it goes fast, so enjoy! Thank you so much to the entire Miss Butler County Scholarship Program family for making this year so perfect – I am proud to forever be a Miss Butler County.
