Williams. Ra ther , the Commission ordered tha t these appea ls be remanded

to the Office of Administ ra t ive Law. The proposed decision is now submit ted

for the Commission’s review.

The appea l of Eldr idge Hawkins, II, a Police Officer with the West Orange

Police Depar tment , of h is removal, on charges, was heard by Administ ra t ive

Law J udge Tahesha L. Way (ALJ ), who rendered her in it ia l decision on

J anuary 25, 2013. At it s meet ing on March 6, 2013, the Civil Service

Commission adopted the ALJ ’s recommenda t ion to grant summary decision

in favor of the appellan t and reverse the remova l. However , the Commission

granted summary decision for different reasons than those set for th by the

ALJ . The proposed fina l decision is now submit ted for the Commission’s

review.

ACTION: The Civil Service Commission adopted the fina l decision .

B-30 EDWIN MARTINEZ

The appea l of Edwin Mart inez, a Human Services Assistan t with Ancora

Psychia t r ic Hospita l, Depar tment of Human Services, of h is remova l, on

charges, was heard by Administ ra t ive Law J udge Lisa J ames -Beavers (ALJ ),

who rendered her in it ia l decision on December 20, 2012. At it s meet ing on

March 6, 2013, the Civil Service Commission adopted the ALJ ’s

recommenda t ion to uphold the remova l. However , the Commission found it

necessa ry to address the except ions and cross except ions filed by the pa r t ies.
