Ministers’ Conference Tuesday - November 5
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Taught by Dr. Donnie Fox, President,
Clear Creek Baptist Bible College,
Pineville, KY
In Colossians: Christ Is All You Need, the new January
2014 Bible Study, you will learn that the Letter to the
Colossians addressed several heresies being presented to the church at Colos-
sae. At the core of these false teachings was a misunderstanding of the nature
of Jesus Christ and His work. Paul pointed to both the deity and humanity of
Christ and how the realities of Christ's identity should impact how people live
in practical ways.
In this January Bible Study, Pastor Paul Gotthardt challenges believers to move
away from performance-based religion. The Christian life is not about trying
harder, but trusting Christ more. The issue is not being versus doing; the issue
is doing from the overflow of being. As you walk through the Christological
themes of Colossians, you will be reminded that everything God desires to do
in and through our lives, He will accomplish out of the overflow of our rela-
tionship with Christ. Christ is all we need.
Each pastor who attends will receive a free leader guide.

CHURCH NEWS
DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS
Dr. Robert E. Tyson, Sr.
You are receiving this newsletter around the time we are scheduled to hold both
our On Mission Connection (OMC) and RCBA Annual Meeting. During both of
these events, we are focusing on the association’s work with missions…missions
both at home and abroad. Through the OMC, we are able to see and hear what our
missionaries are doing across the US and around the world. At the Annual Meet-
ing, we continue the OMC with the added message of what we are doing and plan-
ning to do as an association.
We are grateful to the many people who have helped put together the OMC and
Annual Meeting. The WMU (celebrating 125 years) and the Mission Development
Counsel have provided a tremendous amount of help with the OMC. We greatly
appreciate Temple Baptist and Grace Baptist (Springfield) for hosting the Annual
Meeting. We thank both our moderator, Rev. Michael Smith, and vice moderator,
Rev. Matt Warren, for the past two years of service to the association.
At the annual meeting, we are looking ahead to 2014. The Strategic Long-range
Task Force challenges us with fourteen (14) areas. Some these areas include the
following:
Provide ministers and churches with evangelism training in “Share Jesus
Without Fear.”
Provide pastors and ministers with coaching assessment/training in PLACE.
PLACE helps individuals understand who they are and how Christ can use
them.
Offer churches the opportunity to go through the Transformational Church
assessment.
Plan a home mission trip to Lynch, Kentucky, with a target of the first week in
May.
Place benevolence forms and resources for assistance online.
For the Media Library, purchase as many of the top 10 items the messengers
request, as possible, for church use.
Seek to launch a Hispanic work in 2014.
These items represent a sampling of what we are planning for 2014. We are grate-
ful for the work of the Strategic Long-range Task Force.
We are grateful for every person who helps make the RCBA better by serving in
an organization or on a committee. We are grateful for the support of the church-
es. Our churches understand that, by supporting the association, they are helping
equip and encourage their sister churches. We say to you, “Thank you and may
God bless you for your commitment to the association!”
Thank you for the privilege of serving as your director of missions.
We wanted to make you aware of something
exciting that’s coming in November. It’s
called the Summit – the Gathering of Ten-
nessee Baptists. You probably know it as
the Tennessee Baptist Convention.
We really wanted to name this gathering
something that is more inclusive of the en-
tire week, from the Pastors conference to
the annual meeting and everything in be-
tween. Just in case you are wondering what
makes this event even “Better”, here are a
few things you don’t want to miss:
More Breakout Sesions!
There will be breakout sessions that
will give you opportunities to interact
with your peers and learn practical
ministry helps.
Expanded Exhibit Hall!
Visit the exhibit hall offering services
and resources that help support and
equip your local church. There will be
a lot of giveaways this year that you
don’t want to miss.
Fred Luter, Southern Baptist Con-
vention President, is Preaching!
This is the first time we’ve ever had a
sitting SBC president speak at our
annual meeting.
A Great Location!
If you haven’t been to Chattanooga in
a while, it’s time to come back for a
visit. The Chattanooga Convention
Center 1150 Carter St., Chattanooga,
TN 37402
All messengers, visitors and volunteers
may PRE-REGISTER ONLINE for the
annual meeting through Thursday,
November 7th at 5 p.m.
All pastors are encouraged to attend. Brochures with the complete confer-
ence schedule are available in the RCBA office.
Operation Christmas Child, a minis-try of Samaritan’s Purse, works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver gifts and share the Gospel
to children in need all over the world.
If you would like to participate, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/
operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box/ and get all the details.
You will find suggestions as to what to put in the boxes and what NOT to
put in the boxes.
Collection week will be November 18-25, 2013. The location will be:
Ebenezer Baptist Church 6028 Ebenezer Rd.
Greenbrier, TN 37073
The hours will be 2 PM - 6 PM each day except Monday, the 25th. On
that Monday, they will be open from 8 AM - 11 AM. Call the church at
615-643-0637 if you need to set up a different time for collection.

Lottie Moon Week of Prayer and Offering December 1 - 8
This year marks 125 years of annual giving to support in-
ternational missions. The 2013 Lottie Moon Christmas
Offering® goal is $175 million. In 2012, Southern Baptists
gave $149.3 million to the offering, marking the third-
highest amount given in the offering’s history. Despite the
difficult economy, we can rejoice in how God has blessed
Southern Baptists’ sacrificial giving. Every penny you give to Lottie Moon supports
missionaries as they share the Gospel overseas.
The Senior’s annual Christmas luncheon will be at
White House Baptist Church on December 3, 2013,
at 11:00 AM. Cost will be $10.00 each for the
catered meal. Please bring a can of food to help the
needy. If you desire to exchange gifts, bring a $5.00
gift marked either “Man” or “Woman”. Door prizes
will be part of the activities.
Reservations are due by November 18.
Tickets are available at the Association Office.
