site.SRL board have decided to pursue a single turbine development
of 900kW.Development costs are around £1.5 million.Annual income from such a development in excess of £200K
using FiT tarrifs. Grid connection at best in 2013.Starting planning permission process which will include
environmental scoping studies and ground surveys.Anemometer collecting data from January.

Secured contract to supply Sabhal Mor
Ostaig (SMO) the local college with
woodchip for its 500kW boiler system.
Purchased 880 tonnes of local cut
timber
First delivery in May 2008.
Due to a variety of technical issues with
the boiler installation, ongoing supply
has been inconsistent.
SRL has supplied over 800m3 of chip in
the last year.

• The Flensburg study showed,
on average, a Sleat resident
contributes 17 tonnes of CO2
to the atmosphere per annum.
The Scottish average is around
12 tonnes.

Clean Sleat – Progress so far400 energy savings lights bulbs distributed to Sleat households.
80 Standby savers distributed.
Purchase of community cultivator, cold frames, polytunnels, moisture
meter, log splitter, garden shredder, bike shelter.
Several community events held (Polytunnels, Energy Savings Trust, Solar
Car Boot Sale, “Age of Stupid” Climate Change Film, Crofters Market)
Carried out around 50 home energy audits which are completed with a
thermal imaging survey using our own camera.

Advice on household renewables and home insulation.
Held a make your own solar panel workshop (16 attendees)
At home bin recycling in place from March 2009.
Lobbied the local bus and ferry companies for a better service.
Held two successful Great Sleat Cycle Weeks with many mini events
(bike repair workshop, family bike ride, bike to school week).

Two “waste to useful” product competitions at the local school.
Purchase of an accurate wood chip moisture meter.
Battery recycling at local shop and mobile phone recycling at the school.
Contributed green pages to the Sleat Tourism website.
Project has won an award for interaction with the school.
